This is a discussion about the explosions around London that just happened. Post your opinions, generally talk about it. People in London, if you can, shed a little light on the situation.

The following stations have been affected:

Liverpool Street/Aldgate (Liverpool Street's been closed altogether)
Aldgate East
Edgware Road
King's Cross
Russell Square
Moorgate

Liverpool Street is my connecting station to London, Aldgate and Aldgate East are very close by, ditto King's Cross, Moorgate etc - it looks like they targeted a specific area, if it was a premeditated attack.

My mate lives on the Croydon-Victoria train line, she can't get any further than East Croydon so I'm thinking Victoria station is shut too.

Yes, because the meetup ain't till Saturday - not that it's gonna happen I don't think, me and Sephi have had to cancel and I think others will too. Thorn said he was going to Birmingham today... I hope he didn't have to go via London :/

yeah my dad got stuck. I heard about it before it was on the news but I didn't know it was so many explosions.

Um the whole transport system is down in and around London. First explosion was at 8:46 I think. They're saying it could be a terrorist attack. Especially when the G8 meetings are taking place and the timings of the explosions.

No doubt London was vulnerable, since they won the bidding for the Olympics. This is horrible.

July 7th, 2005, 10:35 am
My brother is on the other side of london, so he's not affected. We are tryng to ring him, but are unable to get through because of the phones being shutdown. it has been declared as a major thing, not a fault in a system of some description.

I stand by my decision that this was mostly to do with the olympics

EDIT: i feel stupid, the G8 hadn't occured to me

:copied from london meetup:

London aint gonna be safe for a while and on top of that it might be a lockdown for a while as well. you can guarantee that they aint gonna be lettin any cars or trains run though today.

but I've come up with something. Don't you find it ironic or extremely close coincidence that the DAY after london gets named as the host for the olympics bombs are goin off.
A grudge perhaps, show that london aint safe and not fit to host the olympics by having bombs go off maybe. do it earlly whilst theres still chance to reconsider

As far as i know everyone's ok. no one lives that deep into london i dont think. Just saw a man nearly crying on t.v talking about his experience on the train when it went off.

Madmazda86

Many motives, I think. They picked the time well, there's a number of groups that could have done it. Bastards. Don't wanna tear myself away from the news...

I was on the bus in front and heard an incredible bang, I turned round and half the double decker bus was in the air.

It was a massive explosion and there were papers and half a bus flying through the air, I think it was the number 205.

There must be a lot of people dead as all the buses were packed, they had been turning people away from the tube stops.

We were about 20 metres away, that was all.

One word: ****.

hm.. explosion in the busy morning when commuters take the public transport to work..

even if it was totally accidental, terrorists would probably claim responsibility

an-kun
July 7th, 2005, 10:48 am
Personally I think it's more the G8 meetings when Mr Blair is busy somewhere else. A country with no prime-minister means decisions can't be taken immediately. You can't plan something like this in a day so that rules out the Olympic stuff if you think about it.

If there was to be follow-up attacks, I'd imagine it'd also be coordinated so that mobile phone usage wouldn't be necessary. It's only emergency services it's for.

Madmazda86
July 7th, 2005, 11:18 am
Yes, a bus blew up on Tavistock place - one fatality from that, two confirmed dead overall, though that will mount I think. It's not the scale of 9-11 in terms of the death toll, but the shock factor isn't any less. It's believed to be a terrorist attack designed to disrupt the G8 summit - someone doesn't want the UK to have a say in the summit, clearly.

It seems a bit too big for Globalists... they usually prefer shouting and stuff <_<

It looks like an Olympic issue - and it wasn't necessarily planned in "1 day" - they (whoever they are) could have everything ready and were just waiting for the Offcial Decision, after which they----

As I said on MSN:

In a way, I half-wish I was there, I know that sounds really peverse, but I just want to help in some way. I have a first aid certificate - if I'd been there maybe I could've helped out - but then again, if I'd been there, maybe I'd be dead. Wish I'd donated blood. Or something. Anything - I don't know.

It just would've been so fucking easy for them - London Underground, it's not like trying to sneak a bomb on a plane; you can throw what you like onto the tracks and nobody would notice, let alone care. All this stuff, the cordons, the shutdown of the transport system - it's locking the stable door after the horse has run away. And that's how it's going to continue to be - with something as public as the transport system you can't do anything until after the incident has happened.

Igneus Descent

The police have confirmed there have been a number of fatalities at Edgware Road.

A number of people have been seriously injured, and then there are the walking wounded. Police say everyone is now out of the tube station.

Two trains were caught up in the explosion here. Witnesses have spoken about glass showering down on them and being plunged into darkness.

People who got out are very shaken and have told us in dramatic detail about getting out, but the very bad news is that some people have died here.

I heard some theories about that aswell. Another theory is that the bombing of London was just a decoy, as in, they would bomb another city with much more resources.

hmm.. perhaps my grandfather's prediction was correct.

See, after london won the bid, i asked my grandpa why new york didnt win. He said that new york is already old and not very stable as well as it used to be. And even if they won there would be attacks on new york from the terrorists when the olymphics occur. So then he predicted that since London won the bid, there could be a terror attack in london sooner or later. I dont know why he said that but ironically he was right.

Since i just woke up, I will not say anything further about the london attack.

I don't think those terrorists would care about the Olympics really. They managed to pull off a large scale attack in a country where the political leaders of several big countries are represented - that seems a more obvious reason to me.

@maz - you wouldn't really be able to help anyway because the police would probably usher you to a safe place.

People in England are quite calm in light of the situation so you guys shouldn't worry so much.

Yes, people of England are being quite strong despite all this. It's hard not to admire their bravery.

We're quite used to loonies trying to blow us up after going through so many years with the IRA blowing stuff up, though admittidly they did offer warnings most of the time first to minimise civ casualties. In a nice twist to all this the terrorists claiming responsiblilty put a letter on a website, possibly already mentioned in this thread havent read it all, saying how they'd caused panic across the land, I see no panic

I don't get the point of terrorist bombings. Are they trying to disrupt foreign affairs, cause terror (I'd assume the term "terrorists" have something to do with this..), or just kill for the sake of it? Dumbasses. It's horrid that this keeps happening and at the same time wasting so many lives in attempt to accomplish something that will never be accomplished (unless they're just killing for the sake of killing. Then fsck them, too).
With each tragedy, this world darkens.. but we only grow stronger.

I'm glad nobody here from Ichigo's got caught in London.

For now, my condolences to the victims..

May the vicitms of this blast rest in peace

My brother managed to ring me, and he said it utter chaos, or it was about 10 hours ago (i kinda went to sleep, so this is a little late)

these terrorists are going too far with their schemes. who knows who could be next? i hope that they just stay where they came from, and die there.

their statement claimed a sense of fear and terror and the west running for cover...rubbish

we are strogner than them. We walked back into london today, we went back about our lives, they have not one, they will not win

all we can do is continue with our lives. if we tried to avoid everything we wouldnt live at all, and that's what they want. and no they will not win.

i was on a bus yesterday and a muslim man got on- this guy behind me shouted "fucking murderer! get him off the bus!" and it made me so angry- you cant blame a whole group of society for something a few did

You should have said something to the guy who shouted out then.

Madmazda86
July 9th, 2005, 11:02 am
And get your head kicked in? Nice as it is to defend society, sometimes self-preservation comes first :/ People who express those kinds of views that strongly (the man insulting the Muslim that is) usually aren't afraid to resort to violence against anyone who speaks out against them.

an-kun
July 9th, 2005, 11:36 am
Well you have self defense maz. There's a whole bus of people and no offense, but I don't think a white guy would be that brave (stupid?) to do that in public.

EDIT: of course I may be wrong but usually people who use violence are too cowardly to attack you fairly.

Madmazda86
July 9th, 2005, 01:58 pm
Which is why incidents happen such as the guy who got beaten up in the road behind my house a couple of nights ago - an off-duty copper stepped in to help but he got the crap beaten out of him too, and he would've been taught all the regulation self-defence techniques etc. X_X You just don't know whether it's worth the risk - one night you might just piss off somebody who's carrying a Stanley knife, and for the most part taekwondo techniques really aren't gonna save you there :/

I herd this on the news:

There was a guy who survived the 9/11 inncodent in New York 4 years ago. Trying to flee such actions, he moved to London. Durring the bombing, he was killed instantly. He was the only American who died in the inncodent.

Anyone notice that whenever, wherever this happens, it just brings everyone closer together, with heightened resolve? Happened in NYC, its happening in London. The terrorists aren't doing a very good job of spreading terror.

I'm so relieved noone was killed...

yeah, it just bakes the bonds thicker. They try to get back at us, but I dont even know why they are attacking anymore, its that old.

Also, about a week ago, in the news paper I red that suicide bomber are starting to attack kids now. Thats a new low.

I'm taken the stiff, British upper-lip to the whole scenario. I say (excuse my language) f**k right off to whoever thinks I'm changing any part of my life-style to this. It's a joke that they think we're going to hide in fear from what might happen, in our own country. Acts of terrorism are simply cowardly and only discourage the British goverment to co-operate with any terrorists. People suffered for four days in heats of up to 60'C, choking to death on some ammounts of francium and sulfur - completely disgusting in my opinion.
