Generally this would go into the music forum....
I may not have the most correct definition, but oh well. When I transcribe I listen to a piece of music and write down the notes that I hear.
Its a simple as that, but it can be a bear sometimes when you pick out a hard song.

As far as I know, transcribing can mean three things:
1) To write down music from aural perception, I.E. writing down the notation for a song based on a recording or performance.
2) To adapt a piece of music for different instrumentation than the original, I.E. arranging a piano piece for flute and cello.
3) To copy from one thing to another, I.E. copying music from a textbook to actual sheet music.
