No, I think that is a most horrible idea. Countries on small islands are the worst of them. Look at england. ^.^ :smartass:
(Psst, I think it is a great idea)

The only advice I can give is make sure you talk with peoiple who have done it, just to make sure it's right for you. I think it's a wonderful oppertunity though.

If you see Nobuo Uematsu over there, tell him I said `Hi`

I second what Gand said.
Experience is good, just make sure you can get through it alive. Expand your horizon, pick up new skills, new interests, learn new things, and you know open your eyes to more of this world and gain experience. It's good for you.
I'd talk with people who have exchanged overseas (or have studied abroad) as well as people from local college/universities who host exchange programs. Seek their views, experiences and advice. Nothing more helpful than speaking with people who actually have experience.
Personally I think it's a great opportunity. ^_^

umm... the cost of living in Japan is the highest in the world (read: food, utilities, rent, clothes, etc.) Can you afford it would be a good question...

erm sounds like a good experiance.
a few things i would say
are you comfortable leaveing your home and family and friends for a year or till you have a hoilday so you can come back.
and prity much what grand and zero said
just find out where abouts you are going to go ask people that know the area or other people that have been there.
also send me a post card if you go =)
