How would you feel if you lost all your senses? your abilities to touch, smell, see, hear, and taste? What would you do? How would you cope? and what would you think?

Here's my lil blurb.

Losing one sense let alone all your senses is horrifying.. but I believe it's a lot more scary to lose one than to lose all. If i were to lose all of my senses, I think it'd feel like living in a pitch black room, just there. sitting there.. doing nothing but thinking to yourself.. talking to yourself.. but truthfully, reality bites.. everyone with all their senses will feel pain at one time or another.. "what they don't know can't hurt them" is what I believe. Just sitting in your own little world would be relieving to me. On the other hand, I'd go crazy from being alone... But really, it's better not knowing than knowing and forgotten.

That would suck big time. I wouldn't be able to go on. I would eventually kill myself.

but you'd still have your mind. emotions. and doing that, not knowing where I was, would make me embarrassed.

i'd probably be extreamly depressesd. my mom would end my life, couse i'd try my hardest to signal that to someone.

Hm... I wonder if you'd start dreaming while awake. A bored brain, lots of memories and imagination... I'm sure sensory input could be faked, if the brain's motivated enough.

Does anybody remember my planned experiment which never went through? To simulate losing all the senses?

Sight - wear a blindfold
Smell - wear a nose plug
Taste - er . . feeding tube?
Sound - ear plugs
Touch - . . gloves and lots of layers of clothing?

I guess I should give an approprate responce. In psy 231 they say if your body goes without stimuli for 2 weeks, you will have reached a point of instanity. I believe this. If your brain can only be used for the basic motor functions, abstract thinking would prob'ly take affect. You'd start to image things because your brain is trying to componsate for the lack of stimuli.

I think I would have a very hard time. All of the people that hate me would have the chance to take advanage of me, and my mother....my mother would be so sad. I'll just be a burden to her like when I was a baby. I wouldn't want to do that to her, she's sufferd enough already.

i would go insane. i'd never have music, and i'd end up breaking my toes and fingers because i don't know how far i'm bending them back...

also, pain is just feeling, so you wouldn't feel anything if you committed suicide. i think... :unsure:

My friend is going blind from a brain tumor, and one of my friends is blind from birth. She tells us that it sharpens all their other senses. Like picture it like this: each one of your 5 senses (Sensation of touch, hearing, sight, smell, and taste) are all on a scale, and each one has 8 "points" on that scale, that adds up to 40, but since you are blind, you have an extra 8, so that gets divided to the other senses, and now your four remaining senses have 12 "points"

Because if I like go to grab her hand or something, she can feel my hand before it even touches her. So it does have it's pros as well as cons.

You could feel the vibrations, at least. Some people have had surgery where they "hear" through they're jawbone, instead of through their ears.

Smell and taste are also extremely closely related... that's why when you have a cold you can't taste things really well. The tounge is mostly used for picking up senses like bitter, salty, sweet, msg, etc.

Not if you literally talkk, you wont be able to "hear" it, but obviously you'll know what you're saying, but if you meant like talking to yourself in your head, then yeah someone deaf can still hear that.

Just to be a smart ass I would have to say that I wouldn't feel anything.
