Around dawn your body becomes more resistant. Thats the time that most people die in there sleep.

I usually do about 3/4 hours of sleep a night, even though I allot 8 hours everyday. My mind just doesn't slow down enough to allow sleep. I just toss and turn for the first 4 hours.

I get between 7 and 10 hours each night unless I have plans such as work. Like M I used to struggle to switch off but by not going to bed until about 2am I just fall straight to sleep.

My sleep pattern has been destoyed over the last couple of months. At the moment i dont go to bed till about 1am then struggle to get to sleep by 3am, waking up at 11am the next day.

So about 8 hours, which isnt apparently good for you. im suposed to get 6/7 hours, but with getting home late and eating habbits i haven't got the energy or the will power to pull it off.

didn't go to sleep until 5 this morning, and only then because i fell asleep at the computer....then i woke up at 6:30 to get ready for school...and i was totally refreshed
w00t for those "power naps" that people talk about in my psyche class

Optimally 4 hours a night plus a short nap unless... I'm on vacation.

Mmm, my sleep patterns are completely off the wall.

Since it's summer, I usually get waaay too much sleep, as I average around 12-14 hours. Of course, if I have to work, I'll probably get less sleep, but whatever.

This, however, is a striking contrast to the amount of sleep I get during the school year. I usually get to bed at around 2-5am on school nights before having to get up at 6, and if I'm working the late shift at work, I could be pulling all-nighters once or twice a week. And if I'm lucky, I'll get to bed around 2. Of course, there are cases in which I can actually get around 6 hours, but those instances are pretty rare. Whee! If I don't work weekends, I can see 16-18-hour splurges as I try to catch up on sleep. Despite my utter lack of rest, I still managed to get an A in all my classes. Unfortunately, I was only taking 2 AP classes last year. This year, my entire schedule is AP, aside from Physics H (as I took Bio AP last year instead of Physics H, so that automatically prevented me from taking the AP class this year) and band. Oh, and LUNCH. <3 So yeah. I'm interested in seeing how my sleep schedule is going to suffer.

I get 6 - 7 hours of sleep, but ideally I'd love to get at least 8 hours. I wake up a few times each night, but quickly drift back to sleep.

What interests me is figuring out how exactly I get to sleep. All I know is: I get in bed, then I get lost in my thoughts, and next thing I know, it's time to get up again. What I want is to fall asleep instantly whenever I wish!

Now that summer's here I usually get around eight to nine hours of sleep.
On school nights I sleep at twelve-ish, so maybe an average of six hours.
When I have band rehearsal in the "morning", around five.

I'm really quite proud of myself. :sorc:

I sleep way too much. My days just....vanish into an unconscious abyss. ;___;

I always try to start the day well though, even if it is at one in the afternoon. Tea and toast for the win! :3

Ahaha, that's me. XD Heck, make that two or three in the afternoon. THIS IS BAD!!! You know what? I'll set my alarms for 9AM, 9:30AM, and 10AM today. =] I kid you not--I have three alarm clocks in my room.

On the topic of sleep...What are severe side effects from lack of sleep?
I've recently been staying up a lot and I think I've turned insomniac...whenever I close my eyes and try to sleep, (while yawning a whole lot and feeling groggy) after a few minutes later, the tired feeling I get disappears and I don't feel like sleeping anymore. It's been happening a lot lately :\

Usually when this happens, I just force myself to sleep. I keep trying to sleep even though I don't feel tired anymore during the night

-The record for the longest period without sleep is 18 days, 21 hours, 40 minutes during a rocking chair marathon. The record holder reported hallucinations, paranoia, blurred vision, slurred speech and memory and concentration lapses.

I like sleeping. :]

But yeah. My sleeping pattern's a little off now that it's summer. I can't fall asleep until around 2-ish. Pshaw. Oh well. Once school's back, I'll be forced to fix up my sleeping pattern.

i know eh, school has the ABSOLUTELY WORST schedule for teenagers. its like "well since the majority (99%) of teens sleep from 2am to 2 pm, we're gonna make school from 8am to 2:30 pm JUST TO BE FUCKING BITCHES."

good job, guys, good job.

Yeah, I hate school time. I like to go to bed in the summer around 3am, maybe later. And then I wake up at 9am to watch Matlock. Yes its weird for a teenager to be doing that, but I like the show. (Man the 80s had all the best shows...) Anyways, during school I go to bed around 12 or 1. And then get up at 6:30 am to get ready. I hate school. Well only 2 more years of regular school for me. Because during college you can usually control what class hours you'd like to go to. I'll probably choose the later classes.

I have been sleeping around 7-8 hours daily. Tonight I will break the pattern probably, by sleeping around 5 hours or less.

Getting 6-7 hours of sleep during the school days and when I can't take it anymore, I take one 8 hour sleep. Seriously, the side-effect are really bad for me. My eyeballs were hurting like heck and I have a major headache, along with tiredness... TT;; I hate you school. You push far too much homework for me to handle.

All you need is 5 hours of sleep. The additional 3 hours are to slowly bring you in and out of sleep, so that you don't randomly wake up in the middle of a REM, which your body doesn't like all that much (hence grogginess and other typical tired symptoms)

Since it's finals week I think I've gotten like four hours of sleep in two days. When my brain is this fried and sleepy my eyesight gets kindof fuzzy and I feel dizzy @.@ But then I try to sleep and it doesn't work. Insomnia much? Ohh beautiful sleep how I miss youuuu

first off, i'm not a coffee or energy drink person, occasionally i will indulge in mountain dew voltage, or white coffee with white chocolate and cream, but usually, no caffeine. and still, i'm lucky to get 4 hours a night. i'm a night owl, and have to get up for work, so.... i *try* to at least rest my body for 6-8 hours a night, because my job is on my feet all day, lifting semi heavy things around (it's fun and keeps me in shape) but i know my body needs rest. however, my mind doesnt shut off. ever. i never get solid sleep either. it's usually about a half hour light sleep, then a few hours awake, and repeat. bleh. and if i do get a full eight or more hours of sleep, then i wont sleep for a few nights. its odd, lol, but apparently my brain says i have to much to do, no sleep for you.

Sleep's pretty important. :(

What's more important is that you don't wanna get into a habit of waking up to work, or going to bed thinking about getting up for work.

You wanna be able to wake up and do things that you like without having to think about anything that you have to take care of. Listening to music, reading a book, or just enjoying the tranquil morning without doing anything. After you've had enough, then do what needs to be taken care of.

You don't wanna go to sleep worrying about the next day either. Get your mind off everything, forget about tomorrow, and go to bed as if you don't have to worrying about waking up. Just falling into an eternal slumber like it's your last sleep. When the next day comes, feel as if the fresh new morning is all there is, and bask in that bliss.

^Sound advice. If I had more than zero willpower, I'd be able to follow it. > <
Edit: And Angelic, I'm seeing your review for My Life as a Teenage Robot? Is that on tv where you're at? It originally aired like ten years ago over here, and I haven't seen it in forever, hahah. XD
It was a pretty fun show, though.

Actually the series is from 2003 so 10 years is impossible :P

But they still air it here occasionally. I just downloaded the whole series in English a few weeks ago because I love it.

I sleep 2 shifts of 3 hours, wake up get stuff done, chill, go back to sleep, and repeat. I sleep on a japanese floor futon, mmmmm i wuvs my futon. Sundays are the only days i can sleep in for a full 7 hrs, but plenty of Russian Standard makes it possible.

At the moment my sleep pattern is 3/4am until 1-3pm (varying).... which is really bad. I got really depressed in my first year of uni and used to sleep constantly... well until my body would wake me up out of nicotine deprival and I would go and smoke make a drink then go back to sleep. 2 years on I am on the brink of escaping it but my body still wants to do all kinds of weird things when it comes to sleeping...

Strange thing is that when I try to sleep-in in the weekend, I tend to wake up at 8 AM, no matter how late I sleep the day before.... Must be my usual habit of waking up at 6:30 AM for school. TT;;

It may have more to do with your surroundings, such as the parents getting up at that time or the TV being switched on for a show.
The biological clock works well, I'm always waking up just moments before my alarm clock goes off. But this is basically the time the rest of my house is running arround getting ready for the day ahead.

I feel that a strong systematic sleeping pattern is something that the host must desire deeply, else all other mental desires become "no."

animefans12

It's true, but this doesn't have to do with the surroundings. Most of the time in the weekend, nobody even turns on the TV or desktop... My parents are gone that day for work, so... And I don't have the alarm turned on in the weekend (except emergencies).
