So, im new to violin, been practicing when i have time, but one thing i could never find out, in a treble clef on the high e string, how do u play the high c and d that is after the 4th finger b of the e string?

You have to shift to 3rd position. That's when the first finger goes where the 3rd finger is. Hope this helps

Shifting takes a while to get used to, though...you'll need to practice A LOT!

thx, guess it makes sense, but dunno exactly how its done, atleast now i got a tip of what to look for

I assume you're playing in first position, which is at the bottom of the fingerboard close to the scroll. You need to move higher up on the fingerboard so that your first finger is where your third finger would normally be in first position. Second position is when your first finger is where your second finger would be, fourth is when your first finger is where your fourth finger would be in first, fifth is where your first finger is where your fourth would be in second. Keep practicing and you can hit all positions.

I couldnt say it better myself SB. Something to help you when sifting is, by placing a finger tape on the third finger in first position, that way you will know where the first finger goes when you sift to third position.
