:D Hi everyone i'm hosting an art contest on here and well here are the rules!

The subject matter of the contest is just to send in some Kurumi related fanart. You can pick any character(s) you want and make them in any media. (Drawing, oekaki, CG, something strange, etc.)

Now I'll break everything down into simple list format for easy reference!

STEEL ANGEL KURUMI FANART CONTEST
SUBJECT: Draw any character(s) from Steel Angel Kurumi in any preferred medium
RULES:
- Whatever you send in for the contest must be created by YOU and not someone else. Don't take credit for other's works!
- No explicit sexual pictures. Blushing, hugging, kissing and stuff is okay.
- There needs to be a minimum of 5 submissions so tell your friends! ^^ (I'll update the number every time I get one.)
- To get the tangible prizes (DVDs, manga, etc) you must be a resident of the USA. International shipping is such a hassle now and it costs more than I'm willing to pay.
- Only ONE entry per person.

IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT STEEL ANGEL KURUMI IS THEN I SUGGEST YOU GO TO GOOLE AND SEARCH ON IMAGES FOR STEEL ANGEL KURUMI AND GET AN IDEA, THAT WILL BE ALL. :D :P ^_^

ALL SUBMISSION SHOULD BE SENT TO ANIMEARTIST@VERIZON.NET

DEADLINES FOR CONTEST ARE CHRISTMAS TIME!!!!!!!!!

Stuff like this never turns out good. I think the subject matter is also too narrow. There should be more freedom.

You definetly seem dedicated.

I think it's a good idea. ^_^ The subject matter may be limited, but who cares? Drawing Practice!!! And why should she ship all over the world Alex? She's doing us Usa'ers a favor at least. That's like getting mad at someone for helping out their next door neighbor, and not helping out some kid in Africa...See how silly that is?
Anyway, thank you Ms. Kurumi! I'll be entering for one. (Though I have no idea what steel angel is :heh: Google time!)

Please.

Why shouldn't she ship all over the world. Obviously your not going to care because you live in the US, but what if somebody really wanted to enter, in hopes of winning something outside the US. It is unfair and discrimination. Your just bias since you live closeby. I don't think she should be able to offer a prize to someone and not someone else simply because of the country they live in.

If I was running the competition, I would offer the prize to everybody, regardless of where in the world they live.

The only thing I found silly was your example of trying to prove how it is fair.

She shouldn't have to ship anywhere. The fact that she's shipping ANYWHERE AT ALL is nice of her. She doesn't have to ship all over the world, it costs more, and is more of a hassle, so calm down. Anyway, I'm sure there are art contests just for you australians once in awhile right? I'm not whining about those, so please don't whine about this. ^_^

"If I was running the competition, I would offer the prize to everybody, regardless of where in the world they live."

Good for you, start your own competition then, and bring justice to this evil world.

It indeed extremely generous of her, I agree. It does cost more, and is more of a hassle, but whats the point of letting people from all over the world enter if only people from the US get a prize? Thats what's silly.

But still, the intention of even offering a prize, should be for ALL contestants, not only those residents of a particular country.

Haha, it's great. I had no intention of entering the competition at all. I state an opinion and its considered a whine. Amazing.

Justice would be obliterating smartass punks like yourself. Evil world indeed. You were the one that would help a neighbour instead of an African child. Be the difference that makes a difference.

People who think this is silly can either :
A.)Enter just for the sake of having some fun, and getting some practice.
or
B.)Just not enter

I really don't see what's so hard about that. XD

"Haha, it's great. I had no intention of entering the competition at all. I state an opinion and its considered a whine. Amazing."

You didn't just state your opinon. Saing "Well, it seems like an ok contest, but I think it a bit unfair that only US residents get prizes" would be stating your opinion. You replyed to
her in a sarcastic, rude manner. Get over yourself, because you're the smartass here.

"Justice would be obliterating smartass punks like yourself. Evil world indeed. You were the one that would help a neighbour instead of an African child. Be the difference that makes a difference."

You wanna obliterate me? that's not very nice.
I never said I wouldn't help an African kid. I'm sure I will in a few years actually.
^_^ And even if I didn't, whats wrong with that? Does not giving all my money away to people I don't know make me a bad person? What's wrong with helping my neighbor exactly? What if my neighbor's poor? In the bible, even jesus was quoted as saying something along the lines of "Enjoy, your life, theres no use in trying to save everyone, as there will always be poor people." <-------Not the actual quote obviously, but you know what I mean.

In short, calm down, and get off your high horse. If you don't like something, state so intelligently, instead of being sarcastic and rude about it.

I really don't think contests like this turn out very well. Often, people just forget about them. Since you do not seem to be affiliated to Ichigos.com as far as I can see, and doesn't seem to be a official competition, you may lack in contestants.

I think also, giving more options to the subject matter would be a wiser idea. Forcing them to simply draw what obviously, you seem to be a fan of, I don't think is very fair. As far as I am aware, I do not know of many people who are actually fans of Steel Angel Kurumi. I think the wisest idea would be to widen to subject matter. Maybe favourite anime character or something along those lines.

Also, I think it is very unfair that you are offering prizes to those only in US. If you are going to run a competition, which looks like to be open to anyone around the world, that means anyone should be eligible to win a prize. I understand that International Shipping can be costly and quite a hassle thesedays, but it isn't much of an excuse if people from other countries want to enter. If your going to run a competition with prizes, it should be run properly methinks, or not at all.

I say offer everyone a fair chance of winning a price or offer no one a chance of winning a price. That's the fairest thing to do anyway. If you say only US people can win a price that's just discrimination if you hadn't noticed already.

By the way, who would be stupid enough to hand out their reallife post address to someone from the internet they hardly know?

Aaaw, come on its, not discrimination really i dont think...well, maybe it is a little, but its sorta like when the teacher asked you "if you have enough gum for everybody" No, we DONT have enough gum for every.......nevermind :heh:

Maybe I just don't see a problem with this because I spend alot of my time on another art forum, where this happens all the time (for all different countries) Most people don't mind it there, cuz everyone's own country is covered by at least ONE contest...this is a smaller forum though, and I can see how peope would consider it unfair (since there aren't 50 art contest a day like in the other one...)

Yes it is. That's what I was saying all along.

HopelessComposer

Yes, I know that. And what I've been saying all along is that I think it's alright in this case, because it's her contest, and she's trying her best to make everyone happy, it's not her fault if she has insufficient funds to do so.

EDIT: Just had an idea. Maybe the fairest thing to do, would be to allow everyone to get a prize (despite how far away they live) and just have the winner of the prize pay for the shipping? I think that seems fair enough anyway... ^_^
