And here is what I've gotten so far.

I'm not expecting the very first thing I write to really make any sense, but I still wish I could make it better. At least as far as I can tell the music seems to transition itself to quickly and I need to change that somehow. On the other hand, I don't know how to use finale very well yet so all the tempo changes, ritardandos, crescendos, decrescendos etc. aren't in there yet. But please, tear me a new one! I love constructive criticism.

As far as the tempo if that will help, it should be about-
140 in measures 1-5
105 in measures 6-20
transition from 105 to 90 during measure 21
90 in measures 22-26
and then 100 for the remainder of the piece.

Welcome to Ichigo's~

Your piece was actually pretty good for a beginner. Surely there were some things that could be improved on, but you seem to have a good sense of harmony and rhythm. However, a word of advice, you should try to make your notation in Finale as clean as possible; it's just better for organizing the music itself. Your opening chords could also be improved by having more 'sense of direction' as it was somewhat random and went nowhere. Your accompaniment with the bass could also use more interest. There are other stuff, but for now, I guess that's enough for you to think about and improve on. Well done~

The first notation is incorrect while the second is correct.

The first notation is incorrect while the second is correct.

Actually, either are fine, however, if you're not writing avant-garde music the second notation is more prefered. It's just easier for the performers to count.
