Opening Theme:

I'd say you used quite a lot of cliched and rather boring rhythms for percussion. And do I hear some synthetic percussions? It's definitely not considered 'orchestral' in my book. However, it's very incidental sounding, undoubtedly. Technically speaking, this piece seems to be repetitive yet incoherent. The rhythms in the percussion kept repeating, yet the piece lacks structures. Watch out for your voicing for chords too. Many times, they're quite weak. And did you quoted an actual theme from the game, hence you must give credit to the composer. Orchestration is weak at the part where your percussions stopped playing, but when the percusssions played, it pretty much overwhelmed everything else, hence another flaw.

Overall speaking, it doesn't make a good 'orchestral' piece. But yes, it works as an incidental piece.

Kairi II:

Accompaniment could be worked on. Again, if you did allude themes from the game you must give credit to the composer. It's kind of short, hence I don't have much to say about it.

Final Battle:

Another incidental piece. Your opening's use of tubular bells were rather... Vulgar, may I say. These percussions aren't really meant for melodies, they're there for accents or colours. Some harmony issues after your strings entered. Your brass felt too repetitive. And I realized you have a choir somewhere behind your large group of instruments... Which is kind of unnecessary if it's so quiet. Percussion works can also be worked on. The piece is just too repetitive in background instruments. Again, with the coherence issue: your piece just blabbed on without a balance! You should consider making your piece less 'rambling'.

Thanks for the comments. I only understood a few of your comments though. For your info, I dont have a strong foundation in music (only 3 years of music in ELectone). For the rest of the things, I'm self learnt and I don't know how to read music notes. I used Fruity Loops to compose music. By the way, what's wrong with combining synthetic percussions into your orchestral piece? Look at Final Fantasy 7's One Winged Angel for instance, Electric guitar is also being used even though it's not an orchestral instrument. I'm more interested to combine orchestral and non-orchestral instruments to create a music. As for the credit to the game composer, I dont think I use any melody from Kingdom Hearts. Kingdom Hearts Fan Album is a tribute album made for Kingdom Hearts with my own compositions, not some sort of arrangement albums or what. Last but not least, in future, could you please explain things easier so that a noob music composer like me who doesnt know much theory but only know what to compose will undestand your explanations easier? Thanks. ^^

When you put synthetic instruments into a piece, it's synthetic. As simple as that. If you want true symphonic orchestral music, then let alone synthetic instruments. Yes, you're allowed to use acoustic instruments like electric guitars or whatever to add more colour to it, but not synthetic (computer generated) instruments. You need to define between the two. As for the allusion part, I really thought I heard a familiar theme in there. Even though if you did change some of the notes or whatnot, it's still quoting. However, I digress. And you should really learn some actual music theory if you wish to improve. As annoying as it may sound, it helps you get away from the cliched circle of music and define between what's creative and what's not.

That post was random. Furthermore, I think that you didn't read what Sir_Dotdotdot said...

I dunno, I liked Kairi II (the one you made). You should change the names though. No say in the synthetic argument
