So, I got a school assignment about expressionistic (sp?) music.
The assignment is that I have to find out what it means (I did that), anyways, I thought I'd go and ask here if anyone knows a classical expressionistic piano piece. My teacher gives me +2 at my mark if I play a piece (or a part of it) instead of just letting the class hear a recording.

Thanks for your help :)

'Classical' Ok, I'm not TOO big on the definition of classical, but most people say Beethoven is considered "Classical."

Try the first movment of the "Les Adieux" Sonata; it's my favourite by Beethoven, and it's full of expression. :heh:

does your teacher mean classical as in the classical period or classical in the general sense of the word?

because i always thought expressionism was like Schoenberg and his lot?

look at the Schoenberg Klavierstucke

or if you feel adventurous- Berg's Sonata

Yes, the period of classical. I heard about Schönberg too, but I couldn't find many interesting pieces. I decided to go with Satie instead :)

I'll also check out Beethoven.
Thanks for the help :)
