Leave em in the past and move on.
I'm traditional in a sence and I wont bother reading the manga bible but that doesn't mean I want others to miss out on it.
No doubt 4chan will make plenty from it's images :D

Ó.ò Why would someone get sued for doing this? The Bible is pretty much public domain, and nobody really owns it. There are many, many different versions in which the Bible was written: King James, New International, New King James, 20th Century King James, The Message, and that's just to name a few. Also, there have been illustrated Bible-story picture books, and they're perfectly legal. I doubt there are any grounds that support a lawsuit.

If the story becomes twisted or false then it will lead to protest and legal action. Otherwise it will simply be a few more people that learn the tales within the bible.

The Manga Bible will include the entire New Living Translation of the text with three 32-page manga tip-in sections that summarize the narrative.

I'm pretty sure it'll be fine :D

@ Paradox- Jesus never did that. But He did thrash a temple because it was a "den of theives" in which the merchants changed it from a holy place into a place of bussiness which was not meant for the temple back then. In which He turns over every table and other stuff, but He didn't kill anyone. But He only did this out of zeal.

But thats not to say that all of the people in Bible were boring. Remember Samson too, as he killed many Philistineans.
So I should think that the manga version will definitely have action in it and especially story.
And I do think this is perfectly legal.

Im not quite sure why we read KJV anymore. No one(Or at least most people) speaks like this anymore. The only reason I can think of for reading KJV is for memorizing scripture because it was the first version of the Bible in english.

Are you implying that killing people makes a person interesting?

:O

Bahaha, oh no, I know, you're not, I'm just being a jackass.

The language lends to the atmosphere. http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a16/RedPharmacist/emot-colbert.gif

@pianocrazy90: That would be freakin' awesome to see manga Samson. He'd probably look super buff like Goku or somebody from DragonBall Z.

I'm not sure, but I think it's just the New Testament... If it IS the Old Testament too, then there will be a lot more volumes :D.

Also, the King James version is cool. All those archaic words are 1337.

Old testament would be awesome. That's has a hell of a lot more of the /action/ or more gruesome side of Christianity.

Actually the words come from when King James ordered 60 or more scholars to translate the Bible so that was in 1601.(I may be off. Whoops you were refering to leet not when the words came from weren't you? My bad.) Yeah I guess it does add more a feel to the book. But do remember that they(Being the people in the Bible) didn't speak english.

@ Methodix- Nah, Im not implying that its what makes for an interesting story, Im just saying people have different tastes and Im just trying show there's more in the Bible than people think. Of course there is intellectual stuff in the Bible as well. I was just highlighting on what might be in the manga, of course I want all of the Bible to be in manga form(Just so you know).

@ Cloud9- Yeah he would probably look like that, except he would have long black hair that couldn't turn yellow. And of course his weakness was his hair(If it ever were to be cut off.)

@ M- Yeah, your right about there being more action in the OT. The NT is mainly for the present and future times that are meant for us, but people do overlook the OT more than they should which has most of the action type genre.

Actually, the first complete Bible in English was the Wyclif (often spelled Wycliffe) Bible; completed ca. 1395.

Oh yeah I forgot about good old Wycliff. Wasn't he the morning star of the reformation?
