Mk so all of my friends are in the marching band...or orchestra and they can play an instrument REALLY well.

I can play piano...terribly.

tips on any instuments I should consider?

I know it sounds stupid...but, I just want to know if I'm as talented musically as them..and I technically don't consider a piano an instrument.

I technically don't consider a piano an instrument.

First off, it's obvious you aren't a musician. I wonder why I am even talking to you.

It's obvious you have no common sence or drive to put yourself into whatever instrument (or not-instrument) your "playing."

It isn't talent, it's the obvious, kid.

explain why you dont consider the piano an instrument

or rephrase it as "piano isnt an instrument i could play in marching band".

you need to put yourself into an instrument to get anything out of it. doing it just for the sake of it wont get you anywhere.

besides, musical talent is subjective

the way i see it, musical talent is 20% how you play, 40% your ability to play to the satisfaction of critics (be it examiners, band leaders, professional music critics) and 40% sheer luck- like who you meet along the way and the opportunities that come up

its sad, but true
