I was in a church choir, nothing professional though . . . and maybe this topic should be moved to music?

I was in a High School Choir...and then my voice changed...in the middle of the Annual Christmas Concert... :death::crybaby: I went from Tenor to Bass-Baritone in a matter of hours. :crybaby: Unfortunately, the choir teacher didn't have a place for a newly-minted (and unpracticed) Bass-Baritone in any of her grades; so I was pretty much out of luck for the rest of the school year. :frusty::ranting:

well, I'm in our school choir (which shall forever be known as the 'award-winning melrose vocal ensemble, thanks to the teachers). We're okay. The whole 'award winning' thing is crap though. We went in the eisteddford and got a highly commended. But there were only 4 greoups in our section so all that means is we came 3rd or 4th! But yeah, I love singing. I guess for those people who chose orchestra over choir, you only had the choice of one? Here both are extracarricular, so it's entirely possible to do both.

I've been in school choirs, but not currently. I occaisonally sing in my church's if they're not having me do some other musical chore. The conductor always has me arrange or accompany on piano, organ, or cello. I love choral music, though. I wish I could do it more often.

I'm not in it, but the teacher has asked me several times to be in it... (I can't because band takes up my last class credit)

Ugh, I hate my new school choir. There are no guys, and I hate having no guys in the choir. There's not enough support for high notes. Plus we have some really loud and annoying girls, so Mr. Long yells at everybody to shut-up everyday. Its so annoying.

I do like being in choirs. I'm in my church choir, it's pretty cool.

Technically, I sing tenor, but my idiot of a vocals teacher doesn't want to add a few extra notes for me so I can maybe do a solo (some of the alto high notes get a little hard for me sometimes). None of our Sopranos, 1 or 2, have any clue how to do vowels, and everyone's so damned self-consious about themselves, it drives me insane sometimes. :frusty: JUST. SING. OUT. DAMMIT. And I got screamed at because we altos had literally a half hour of just sitting, so I started to doodle on my music folder. Ugh...
However, I'm going to get my (VERY good) middle school choir together to do a few songs for a competition in April. Wish us luck! ^^

Hardly any guys try out or make it in choir.

I love being in my school Choir. ^_^ I have Really good friends in the Alto and Soprano Sections, and some of the guys in the Tenor and Bass are effing HAWT! O_O I would kill for one of our tenors, Sam.

However, though we are balanced on a four-part scale, our eight-part divisions suck. There are only two Tenor I's out of ten Tenors overall, 3 Bass II's, 7 Bass I's, 4 Alto II's, 6 Alto I's, 9 Soprano II's, and 1 loud-- but REALLY good-- Soprano I. O_O

As for All-State, I've made it 2 years in a row, and I plan on doing it again for my senior year. The songs that we did last year were ridiculously challenging, but the experience was like one big orgasm; plus, I had a 3-day Boyfriend last year. He was so adorable~ ^///^ I was the only one in the ENTIRE school to make it into All-State this year, so that's quite the honor.
