1.Music Appreciation 8
2.Band 8
3.Pre AP Algebra I 8
4.Reading/Writing Workshop 8
5.Science 8
6.LUNCH!!!
7.Pre AP English 8
8.Social Studies 8

(_ _) Music Appreciation is a bunch of stuff. We practice jazz, music theory, and perhaps a little composition. Social Studies is covering history this year. I miss Mrs. Busch already. She was the coolest science teacher. 8th grade isn't looking too good even on the third day. CRT's are coming up next semester :ph34r: Yes, my freaky school counts lunch as one of the hours. Zero has only four classes :blink:

I'm in for the most boring year of school ever, as far as core classes are concerned. School used to be fun, excluding the part about homework.

Gand, that's my favourite part of your schedule! XD By the way, you only did your bachelor's, right? Are you planning on taking a year off and doing something else later on, or is that it? Because I don't know what to do after this year is over . . .

My tentative schedule (http://members.rogers.com/alphonsenguyen/schedule.doc)

In my winter schedule, one of my lab time slots hasn't been decided yet, that's why it's tentative . . . anyways I'm in for a rough year X_X

I have no idea how the American/Canadian school systems work. X_X

look its elle
August 29th, 2004, 05:09 pm
A :: 1st Period Art [ I wanted Photo as an elective.. ]
B :: 2nd Period Engrish
C :: 3rd Period Algebra AB
D :: 4th Period American History
E :: 5th Period Physical Science
F :: 6th Period P.E.

It's like this. Every beginning of the school week (Monday) we rotate classes. But on Monday, we go to classes A, B, C, D, E, & F. Tuesday we go to B, C, D, E, F, then A. Wednesday we go to C, D, E, F, A, B and so fourth.

Comprende? :/

i'll try to explain it all in a nutshell...

most schools have 7-8 classes. 2 semesters, with 4 quarters or periods (2 in each semester). You have your core classes; math, english, science (chemistry, physics, biology, etc...), and history or geography. That leaves 2 or 3 classes, or elevtives. These classes you can choose what you take.

I loved Calculus AP, good luck to everyone that will be taking the exam. Make sure you do lots of practice exams, if you try to do it without trying the exams before you're unlikely to score higher than a three.

Yup. I completely agree with this advice. For my AP Calculus BC class we spent about one year (the last semester of our junior year, first semester of senior year studying the calculus material, and part of second semester), then we spent the final semester just reviewing old AP exams...you'd be surprised how much that three months of reviewing helped. Anyway good luck when AP exams come around~

Physics - Thought I'd hate it, love it! :D

AGh!!!! physic=evil!!! i hate the long problems you have to figure out only to find out you didnt even have to do any work. Example: some guy falling down from a building and theres something about determining the velocity he is falling at and how much its increasing per second. so i do it out, only to find out he's falling at a constant velocity. soo annoying.

on another note, i burned myself in chem today.

.....i forgot where i kept the hot glasses that were bent and the not hot glasses that were bent......it hurted to find out....

Sorry, but people who are self learning a language that is completely different from their own without someone to teach them are just funny IMO XD

Course Descriptions

SOC100 Introduction to Sociology

This course is designed to be an introduction to the academic discipline of sociology. It focuses on the history and central theories in the field, as well as acquainting the students with the techniques of analysis used by sociologists as they conduct research. Students in this course will study topics such as gender issues, population, race and minority relations, the family, and social change.

3 credit hours.

ME252 Dynamics and Vibration

The course emphasizes the proper utilization of vector algebra and free body diagrams to solve problems in engineering dynamics. Vectors are used to describe the action of forces and moments acting on particles (point masses) and rigid bodies and to determine their resulting motion. The course begins with a description of how the topic of Dynamics and Vibration fits into the broad picture of the engineering curriculum, and more particularly, the area known as Engineering Mechanics. The course then moves into five major areas of study: (i) dynamics of a particle, (ii) dynamics of particle systems, (iii) planar kinematics of rigid bodies, (iv) planar kinetics of rigid bodies, and (v) vibrations of a particle. The course includes laboratory work and use of computer software to model dynamic systems. The course may also include building and testing a dynamical system, the operation of which must meet a set of desired specifications. A written project report is required and evaluated. Prerequisites: ME250 and MAT272.

4 credit hours.

EGR342 System Modeling and Analysis

Modeling and analysis of basic mechanical and electrical systems including static and dynamic equilibrium force analyses, vibration, elasticity, fluid mechanics and heat transfer and simple electric circuits will be discussed in this course. Analogies between these systems will be explored. Other topics include: methods of linear approximation, lumped, integral and differential models, free and forced responses of first and second-order systems, steady-state frequency response, filtering, resonance and Bode plots, damping, dynamic stability analysis including Routh’s method and Evan’s root locus method, and coupled modes of natural motion for two and may degree-of-freedom systems. Prerequisite: ECE330.

3 credit hours.

ME360 Fluid Mechanics

This course serves as an introduction to fluid mechanics. In previous courses the basic laws for solids have been developed and implemented. The intent of this course is to formulate and apply analogous laws for fluids. The initial portion of the class focuses on defining a fluid and its properties. This is followed by an analysis of fluids at rest (hydrostatics) and the forces they impart on mechanical objects such as dams. The final portion of the class covers fluids in motion. A variety of analysis techniques are covered. These methods include control volume analysis, differential analysis, and dimensional analysis. Once developed, these analysis techniques are used to investigate a range of fluid dynamics problems such as the flow within piping systems, external aerodynamic drag forces, and the selection, operation and performance of pumps. Prerequisites: MAT272, ME250, ME320.

3 credit hours.

ME361 Thermo/Fluids Experiments

The main intent of this course is to supplement and enhance the material taught in Thermodynamics (ME320) and Fluid Mechanics (ME360) via hands-on laboratory experiments. Additionally, this course is designed to (1) provide experience with the setup, calibration, and execution of experiments; (2) demonstrate the important aspects of data analysis and evaluation; and, (3) give experience designing and conducting experiments. The course is split into two parts. In the first part students conduct a series of experiments designed to demonstrate thermo-fluid principles. A wide range of state-of-the-art laboratory facilities are available for these experiments. In the second part, students, working in teams, are required to design, construct, and execute an experiment of their own. Formal laboratory reports are required and technical writing is emphasized. Corequisite: ME360.

1 credit hour.

ME 351 Instrument/Micro Lab

Description forthcoming.

1 credit hour.

MUS160 Wind Symphony

The York College Wind Symphony provides training in the interpretation and performance of traditional and modern concert band literature. The band performs concerts open to the public. Membership is open to all students who have had prior band experience, but must audition for placement.

2 rehearsals weekly. Satisfies ADR I.

1 credit hour.

MUS486 Orchestration and Arranging

This course is a study of the instruments of the orchestra and how to orchestrate and arrange music for them. Prerequisite: MUS282.

3 credit hours.

A total of 19 Credit hours; 3 being just for fun.

Huh...why is it that when I compare my post-secondary schedule to others, mine always seems to be too easy (or rather, lacking)

Sunday: Free
Monday: Free
Tuesday: Philosophy 1100
Wednesday: Criminology 1100
Thursday Philosophy 1100

Saturday: English 1100

In one week, I spend 9 hours in school...compared to others, it doesn't seem like I'm doing much =\

So glad I have block schedule (alternates between odd and even numbered classes each day), there is no effin way I would deal with 7 classes a day. I had to fight to get music tech, which is total BS since I'm a senior and we're supposed to have executive privilege. XD
