Hi everyone ! I have started a musical project and want your opinion on my compositions . Here's my first entry . This song is called Dreamer.

Have fun listening and give me insights !
Thanks !

I read somewhere that Dreamer and Moonlight were two of the most frequent song titles. Anyway, back to the song itself;

If this is indeed your first composition, I'm impressed. It shows a great deal of artistic vision along with great implementation. Just when I thought the arpeggios were about to be overdone and tedious, you introduce a second arpeggio which completely gave this song a fantastic dreamy, disoriented feel. I can't help but feel that this cue would do great for a dream sequence in an anime scene.

I hope you have more incidental music coming up, I'm eagerly waiting for more.

Very good job for your first time! You seem to have a god sense of how to embellish your music with different effects and such. To my ear, I thought you may have overdone the arpeggios. It was a very good idea that you switched up to a different arpeggio, but it took an even less amount of time before I wanted to hear something different. I would also like to hear more effects. Maybe some chimes or some kind of synthesized percussion moving in a panoramic style.

Looking forward to hearing more!

Hey thanks guys for the comments !

By the way, it is not my first composition. Not like I did a lot because I am still a beginner. I was the one who submitted the 'Old days' song for the 'song with vocals' contest 2 summers back .The one with the voice no one could bear.haha!

Anyways I have some more songs that are pretty much finished coming up for you. I will post one each week so wait impatiently for them haha ! :P

The constructive comments are very welcome !!

See ya soon !

Here's a new one for you guys to enjoy !
It's only 1:40 but looped to make it feel like a video game song.

Comments are appreciated !

And indeed it does. I'm sorry that I don't have anything constructive for you this time either, so a little ego boosting will have to do. Your talents are obious, you are destined to be a video-game composer. This is the perfect cue for that ice cave we all remember in our favourite RPG. The chord progression works like wonder, and the chilling echoing piano/percussion adds to the ambiance.

Neat.

Spiraling Thoughts - Great video game song. I liked the different textures you used, and really didn't expect the guitar. It sounds great. I love how it sounds more abstract in the beginning, and eventually leads into the guitar part. Great job.

What can I say that hasn't been said already?
The sound production is great! And yeah you should really try to contact some indipentant game maker and present your songs, they will surely be appreciated.

Thanks again for the comments everyone !

Here's a new one I just finished for your listening pleasure. It's called 'Ending theme' in lack of a better title. I'll find one for sure but for now let's leave it at that .

Have fun !

Almost sounds like an overworld theme rather than an ending theme. Anyway, I love it wholeheartedly! What sound fonts/samples do you use? I like the VGM-feel they bring to your compositions.

Thanks Noir7 !

Well here are the VSTi I use the most:

Spectrasonics - Atmosphere
East West - Symphonic Instruments ( really great orchestral samples )
Native Instruments - Kontakt 2
NI- B4
NI- Pro 53
Steinberg The Grand 2 ( not that good actually )
Reason ( used in rewire mode in FL studio )

And that's about it !
By the way, I do all my stuff in FL studio. Love that program. So intuitive and easy to use but at the same time, you can really do a lot with it. It's great !

I was interested in Steinberg the Grand 2. Why is not that good?

Check this one:

Well it's not that bad, but let's say the highs and the lows are kind of weird sounding. It's hard to explain but Synthogy Ivory sounds a lot better. And pianoteq yeah...I had tried the demo a couple of months ago and completely forgot about that. Sounds awesome ! Thanks for reminding me !

So I'd say, if you need a good piano sound because you play a lot and use it as a tool for composing than go for Ivory or Pianoteq ! You'll be thanking me in the long run.

Btw about your compositions, Doing a good job! Video game feel indeed.. I guess that is what you love, video game music ;)

Here's an upbeat song I finished about two months ago but decided to remix it a little bit. It's really different than my other songs and it is my first composition with drums.

I give you : Let's get the hell out !

Enjoy !

The drum use was pretty poor to begin with. The electronica sound was well accomplished, although some parts are too generic-sounding (even for this genre). Overall, it's a decent up-tempo piece.

A new song for this new years eve. It's nothing Christmas related and it's another one of my VGM songs like always.

Comments plz ! :)

Happy New Year by the way everyone !

Does have that mysterious feel, I guess. I think the hard pan sweeps should probaby be slower, or just simply shorter, cause it was really distracting me from the rest of the piece. I like the dronish harmonies, though for that part where the bass drops out (around 1:30), I'd like to have a bit more development before bringing back the drone again. The violin is a nice touch, too, though too bad it is only there in the first half or so. I guess overall I just think the piece could probably stand being longer for the development to come to better fruition.

I wish you would have utilized the left-right speaker spectrum with some more of the instruments because at the beginning that was a really enchanting effect.

Thanks for the replies.

This song is an old one I composed for a short film. Nothing amazing here. Short and sweet piece ! :)

Simple and yet refreshing to the ear. It makes a great ending credits piece!

Oooo, I like that a lot! Very much my type of simplicity, and it accomplishes what it was supposed to. Very good job.

In this one I thought you stayed on the same chord for too long. The subsequent chords were somewhat unimaginative but I suppose it makes for a simple song :)

This piece sounds like the music played to the opening of a game. Very nice. I'm waiting for more from you.

Oh, and is there any chance of you being able to put your stuff in .mid format? Took me 20 minutes to download this lol.

Thank you everyone for the comments !
By the way , happy new year !...a little late though...

I haven't been able to compose a lot these days. I am working on the contest and I am starting a big project that will involve different talents. More about that soon! :)

Shicoco: I don't upload .mid format because part of what's nice about my compositions ( at least for me ) , is about the mixing and the use of different samples. So uploading would be totally useless because you couldn't hear all the effort I put into finding and mixing those sounds. ;)

So I'll be back soon with more music !

Ps: 3 weeks left for the contest guys ! Don't work too hard, you already know who the winning team is. Hi PorscheGT !! haha !

Yo guys ! It's been a while but I am still alive hehe !
Here's a song for the project I am still working on. This project should be done by spring so I'll give you insights about it soon !

Enjoy this song for the time being !

Very relaxing track, it create a good atmosphere and seem its purpose is just as background music. What is the role the track will have in the project? The only I did not like was when the snare entered filled with reverberation.

Nice to see you back!

Awesome as always sir! I can't find a thing I don't like about it. Nice ear! Send me a message on MSN sometime!

To begin with it's highly unimaginative. You let the sound work do all the job in setting the mood of this piece, as opposed to doing so by written excellency. However -- it works, truly well. I'm quite impressed with the final result. The thing that bothers me is that with a little more effort it could have been something much more elegant. It's very similar throughout the entire piece (Which, I'm quite sure has to do with the "background-purpose" of the song) but I'm afraid it comes across as kind of sloppy to me.

If it had more up-front ostinato (that bell-like eighth note motif) with the bell and possibly a sharper synth doubling it, it's be like something out of the blade-runner soundtrack :D

I like this. It's very New Age and comforting in the drone. The ending, where everything culminates with the violin duet, is extremely satisfying. One thing that I'm curious about is maybe halfway through the song a separate theme came in for a while (instead of the constant build to one ending theme)... maybe like something comes in for a bit on a flute or pipe and then is gradually pushed to the side by the violin theme. Just so we have a sense of movement or progression. It's just my mind toying with "what if" scenarios :P Never you mind that then, I really like it as is! ^_^
