Instead of me choosing themes for these competitions every time, I thought we'd try this democracy-thing I keep hearing about. So, if you had the self-glowing godlike status which I do, what would you want the next composition contest to be about?

I'm aware that some of the titles hint Jeapordy categories, deal with it.

2008: New Beginnings
Since this contest will begin after New Years, this is the perfect opportunity to appreciate either continued happiness, perpetuated sorrow, or simply; a new beginning.

Winter
Like autumn, winter can be a pain in the rear (Swede here). However, winter has its own natural flare and beauty, and this is the time to represent this mellow, dark and yet peaceful season.

Scoring & Orchestration
Where music meets architecture and finesse - This contest will be about creating scores with more instruments than can you can count with your fingers, which will put your creativity, writing, presentation and orchestration talents to the ultimate test.

Music Quartet
If two is the lonliest number, and three's a crowd - then four must be the magic number. As the new year rockets through the roof, so should your harmonic and melodic skills! The theme here, like the previous category, is free. However, within this contest you are restricted to use only four appropriate instruments . Make it work for you!

My friend, the composer
What is a new year in solitude? Start this year off by teaming up with a befriended Ichigoan composer and begin conjuring magic!

Music through the Ages
Music is like fine wine, the more... no wait, that's women. Anyway, music is indeed timeless. What a great way to kick this year off by going back a few! It now falls upon you to journey the sands of time, finding the special spark of that wondrous musical epoch that holds you spellbound, and imbue yourself with its characteristics and traits.

The Ichigo Threatre
Lés Ichigoablés, anyone? 2008 will be the year of artcraft and singing! Whether it's a mournful aria sung by a tormented soprano or a marching waltz performed by the sexually questionable baritone, this will be your Opus Magnum which will be on people's lips all year long!

Well, it's very hard to choose since none of them appeal to me greatly. But I would pick Scoring & Orchestration, Winter and 2008: New Beginnings as my candidates. I think I'll "vote" for Scoring & Orchestration. . . we need a little more of that anyway, "seasonal" contests are getting quite old.

I ditto Porsche's choice. Teaming up would be fun. I would choose the theatre one for second choice since I am planning to cooperate with a friend on a small theatrical work over the holidays.

Awesome! I didn't know you guys had competitions! :D. I definitely vote "My friend, the composer". As long as it doesn't go through my exam period. When does the competition start and end?

I'd vote for "The Ichigo Theatre", only because I have a song ready, haha *is listening to it now*. But since I won't be participating, let's go with "Music through the Ages".

I personally like the Scoring/Orchestration and Music through the Ages ideas.

Although the pairing up could also be interesting- its good to bounce ideas off each other. As long as can get on that is... and find a partner of course.

Hmm not so sure for which one to vote. Between "Scoring & Orchestration" and "Music through the Ages". Both seem good to learn and explore.

"My Friend, the Composer" Seem also very good to learn to work in teams composing, also to learn from each other. (Btw I am not someone that is good working in teams, I feel better working alone and more free). =P

Hmm I think I will go with.... Music through the Ages! <-- My vote.
Second choice Scoring & Orchestration.

Yes, avoiding "My friend, the Composer". xD

"My friend, the composer" sounds like fun, but also the orchestration thing...

My friend, the composer: V I
Scoring & Orchestration: II
Music through the Ages: II
Music Quartet: III

Is this correct? I'll let the voting continue for a few days, since some members here didn't officially "vote", but rather mentioned two/three "interesting" categories =P

I am not sure if I will be able to participate in this contest.
If I can vote anyway I cast my vote on "My friend the composer"

I vote for Music Quartet, but only because I don't know anybody here yet. Any other new loners out there who would like to team up in case My Friend the Composer is chosen?

Seem "My Friend, the composer" will win. :O

Regarding that, QUESTION HERE!***

Will a thread be made to know who's paired up with who and people who needs to find a partner to compose with, or will that be done on the IRC? As stated above, I too do not know anyone and to find someone to compose with which can be a problem to some participating =/...

A thread will be made up for that soon enough.
