My favourite is Kikujiro no Natsu 's music.
Beautiful theme of sadness and happiness feel in the soundtrack.
The composer is Joe Hisashi, probably my favourite movie composer....
I don't watch much Western/Hollywood movies because nowadays it's full of remakes and......remakes..... eg. The Departed was pure remake of Infernal Affairs.

See i would be the opposite of you. I watch alot of wester movies. And, you could say that im absolutely ignorant to eastern cinema, especially Asian cinema and their music.
Buut the director gave full credit to to Internal Affairs he was mentioning it multiple times and he also included it in his Oscar speech so more than enough credit.

I think Joe Hisaishi is also my favorite composer. Some of my other favorites are Howard Shore, Danny Elfman, and James Newton Howard.

Hans Zimmer has captured my heart.
There are others too Joe Hisashi and John Williams, of course. Howard Shore did a good job on the Lord of the Rings. I don't remember the composer, but I love the music from Beowulf. I'm trying to get my hands on a copy of the soundtrack.
:music: Gladiator Soundtrack
Edit: I forgot Tyler Bates.

Alan Silvestri did the music for Beowulf. I like a few of the scores that he's done, but he's not my favorite. I forgot about Hans Zimmer as he is also in my top favorite list.

I love Danny Elfman too, especially the Corpse Bride soundtrack. Moondance is a lovely song. The only thing I don't like about him is that sometimes his score for one movie will sound a lot like a score for another movie. Like between The Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, and Meet the Robinsons for example.
edit: This made me listen to the Corpse Bride soundtrack again, and I remembered how much I love it. The Ball and Socket Lounge songs are awesome. That is my favorite style of music.

But IMO Hans Zimmer can not be compared to people like Williams or Elfman, the composition levels in their technicality are waaaaay different.

his work sometimes may sound the same, but you've got to keep in mind that this is coming from the same guy with his same prefrences on how it should sound, and the score is mostly going for the same feel.

Danny Elfman, Hans Zimmer and Steve Jablonsky are probably my top-3 composers in film. John Williams is also amazing, although his scores are too classical-sounding for my taste.
