well i've been trying this out recently and they say that you should start by using a straw in a cup of water and practice making bubbles. and i've tried it and i can keep a continuous flow of bubbles but when i try to aply it to my flute it won't work or at least it i can't get myself to puff my cheeks. has anyone else had similar problems? or can anyone help me?

If I'm not mistaken, I don't think your supposed to puff you cheeks when you play the flute. Keeping a certain airflow is kinda critical for the flute and puffing your cheeks would make it so much harder :heh:

i know! which is why at first it thought circular breathing was impossible for flute and i ended up finding several things on circular breathing. and all of them said to puff your cheeks...hmm...oh well

Well..I suppose it is possible to puff your cheeks and play the flute (I tried it and I can sometimes get a note out--I just started though so it might not even be the right note:sweat:). I'm guessing it just takes alot of practice to get the breathing right:lol:

My advice would be to practice some techniques such as are used for singing. When you play an instrument like the flute, you have to have proper posture and you have to breathe right. My suggestion would be to do breathing exercises where you concentrate on breathing in with your diaphragm and breathing out using your lower abdominal muscles to create a constant airflow.

Not everyone could do circular breathing on their instruments. It's like fluttertonguing, not everyone can do it right, they can only fake it when they need to do it. Yes, at times, you can practise and get it, but you probably won't get it unless you have a lot, and I mean a lot of experience with your instruments (merely a few years won't cut). So my suggestion for you would be to not even attempt this yet. I'm not saying you're incapable, but this takes years of practise.
