Developed by the now non-existent Clover Studios, Okami is a really fun video game that's beautiful to look at and with a wonderful soundtrack to boot. :) I have yet to play a game where you can draw something and have it literally come to life. Burn animals, cut down trees, blow away NPCs; You can even make your own custom doodle become a part of the game itself. (I won't go into detail since I don't want to spoil too much of the game for newbies. ^_^ )

The game is aimed towards video gamers who are also artists, but other kinds of people can enjoy it just as much. Gamers demand an original game and yet once one comes out, it gets ignored or hated before it's even got a chance to show its true colors. Believe me, this is one game you have to at least try out. (Especially if you're a fan of Japanese culture and the Chinese Zodiac.) Okami is a short game, but it has enough to make any video gamer satisfied with the amount of amusements you can create.

I don't really care for "great graphics" and all that lame stuff that people make up as an excuse to try or not try a particular video game. :bleh: I say as long as a game's well-done and fun, it's good enough to play.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Okami. People who talk about its 'bad graphics' just piss me off!!
It's beautiful, I love the whole traditional Japanese element and the styles of woodblock and watercolour combined. I also love the interactive brush system. It was brilliant. The concept was pretty original (ok I'm not the BIGGEST gamer, but I've never seen anything like it). I know that there was some criticism that the game was too easy, but I never felt that hindered gameplay at all.

I heard that it was as good as Zelda games.^.^

I was going to buy a copy from the PS2, but it was quite expensive for a used game (45$). I think I'll just wait for the Wii version to release.

Pish. It's better than Zelda games... at least, it is for people like me who don't like the Zelda games a whole lot to begin with. :P
One aspect I thought to be very well-done in Ôkami is the focus on saving the land--not just the people of the land, like most games, but nature in general. The creators also did a very good job introducing Amaterasu to others' lives, as opposed to simply meeting characters in general. My favorite example is Oki. ^^
I've heard the talk about easiness as well, and that is true... for the most part. Some parts were relatively hard. Sadly, I got stuck with the mushrooms in my first game. XP I thought you had to use bloom on them, and so spent like half an hour drawing little circles around mushrooms on a log... yes, very sad.
I want to try the Wii version. I want to draw Fireburst very dramatically. >:3

Just for the record, I have the soundtrack, the piano soundtrack, an Ammy shirt, and the Okami Official Complete works on pre-order. I got mine from buy.com, and only paid $30 instead of the normal $40+. ^^ That's including shipping... now if Udon would just release it...

OMFG!!! I love this game to much to explain. I brought the game over to my friends house and he said it looked crappy but then he started to play it and I had to drag him off the playstation because he refused on giving it back.Just to let you know this is a true story. He played 5 hours straight on Okami and now he likes it so much that almost every weekend he calls me to bring it over so he can play it XD.I've beaten the game at least 5x though i never get tired of it. Though its really annoying when i can't find the stinkn stray beads. I have 10 more to find but I can't find them. Anyways on this art website called deviantart they held a drawing contest in honor of the WII version of Okami being released and the final winners did an awesome job. Here's the link to the winners http://news.deviantart.com/article/47975/. Just click on the pictures below the first picture to view the artwork in depth. I liked the second and third winner but all of them did an awesome job.

I've been thinking about picking this up to kill time on the odd day when I'm not working 12 hours. :P I've heard nothing but good things about it.

KHIIlover: You just have to figure out when to light the cannons so they shoot straight at the red ones. The gold cannon in front of the door is destroyed by deflecting two pink missle thingies back at it. I'm not sure if the red ones can be destroyed that way.
Weird... it doesn't look like the PS2 version is officially on sale anymore. Amazon and a few other sites only have it through other sellers.
