Oh yeah 7 years of piano so don't get a guide that has something like "This is a whole note. It lasts 4 beats. Lets count to four..."

If you're getting a how to play guitar book, then its bound to have that stuff.

If you really want to do something not "whole note" related, get a chord chart or book and learn those. Then you can mix and match them to make your own song.
