yeah ending to School days was epic (never saw that coming).
There were some epic parts in the Higurashi series as well. (need to go back and find exact moments).

Big, big surprise. Had to go take 2 glasses of water for that.

O.K. In Bleach episode 160 Part 3 submited by MyHeleh on youtube and search for it. There is a beautiful Violin/Piano thing, this rly isnt a epic moment but it seriously made me stop its like the best THE BEST Violin ive ever heard. 3:50 for when piano stars and 4:17 for when violin Stars OMG

Regarding piece you mentioned, it's very good, I've heard them play it several times now I think. However, I wouldn't say it's better than some of the stuff in Rozen Maiden or some other animes. The middle part of the piece is less memorable than the intro.

@ M - definitely agree with 'goal' from Air. It's unfortunate that past that point, I couldn't understand anything that went on in that episode anymore.

Personally I thought Ayu's arc was more 'epic' than Makoto's. But that's a matter of opinion I think.

I'm surprised no one mentioned Zero no Tsukaima season 2 finale when Saito charges into the army (hope that doesn't count as spoiler...). It's a really tear jerking moment for me, dispite how poor the whole season went.

Hmm... the final battle in Rozen Maiden season 2 was also very memorable.
