View Full Version : 'Beethoven Virus'-Transcription by Nyu001
Nyu001
February 24th, 2008, 02:06 am
I saw some people that wanted a transcription of Beethoven Virus which appears in the game Pump it up that is like Dance Dance Revolution and so Here is the transcription I did.
Note: The transcription is just from the Remix of Beethoven Virus not the original composition.
EDIT: If you want the sheet music for any other instrument like viola, flute, cello, etc. Just transpose it to a range that is ok for your instrument. Most of the common instruments will be ok as it appear here. Just read the staff of the right hand. For those that play viola there is already a pdf of it on this thread.
Update: A guitar TAB was added. I am not sure of the playability due the pulsing bass I added. If that make it hard or impossible to play correctly. Just Ignore the bass.
EDIT: For play it on the violin, take the first pdf which is the piano score. You just have to play the upper staff and ignore all the legatos there. Will be up to you where you want to make a legato and the bow directions. If you want to play it higher, just play it an octave higher in your violin.

Hey Nyu001, first of all I want to thank you for the piano transcription. I'm dying to learn this piece but I just have one problem.
At about 37 seconds into the piano mp3 till 1:00.. 40 seconds in particular, it just sounds .. odd ..
I was wondering if you found it odd too, or if that specific part was just too damn tricky to fix up.
I don't mean to be rude :) I just love this piece so much I want it to be perfect.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks,

Sorry for silly question, but how are ties in piano music played? Is it equivalent to the pedal?

It would help if you tell me the measures. Because I am not sure what you are meaning. If is about the left hand, That is additional things I implemented to the score for not have the left hand playing a continuous pulse of the chords.
If you are not comfortable with it, do any variation you wish with the left hand, for enjoy better playing. ;)
There are like 1 or 2 mistakes in the right hand, I think. I am not sure if they are right or wrong.
Sorry for silly question, but how are ties in piano music played? Is it equivalent to the pedal?
If you are meaning the legatos, then, that is just playing the notes smoothly, avoiding those little silence between notes played. And no, is not the equivalent to the pedal.

Just take the piano right hand staff and play it an 8va higher if you find it too low, or transpose it to another key signature that you find more comfortable to play.

I would really love a version of this for trumpet. I've been trying for months to learn this by ear, trying to listen and play it at 180-ish. I got about as far as the first half note. I've downloaded the piano part from the first post, and I want to do a double recording, one for each line so I can overlay them and have the complete song.
So, I would love you forever if you could do the lower piano line in a better range for trumpet, Like a duet.
ALSO, I would in fact do this myself, BUT I play in a high school band. I have no Idea how to transpose music. I have no Idea how to write music (though I've tried and am willing to learn both) and I'm slightly lazy. Plus, the closest thing to a sheet music creating program that I happen to have is MS Paint and some patience, so understand that If I can't get this from someone I'm not going to have it. Please and thank you?

I would assume many of you would know this, but this is just a remix of Beethoven's Pathétique Sonata (Opus 13), so you could probably find a slightly similar arrangement for other instruments if you searched for that.

You probably will have to transpose it and do some arranges to it. There are various kinds of recorders/Flauto Dolce with different ranges. At least the main theme won't be a problem, but I am not sure of the other sections if would be out of your recorder's range.

For everyone wanting to have a violin version, just play the piano trebble clef an octave higher, and without the riduculously long (for violins) slurs. And if that's to hard you can start on the A string instead and work your way from there.

I think he wants the melody instead. Cellists read bass clef, but the melody is in treble clef. Ask nyu001 for it.
play the treble clef of the piano version!!!
Frustrating isn't it? Don't know how many times this has been said lol. Hell nyu said it in the first post. Nobody reads x_x
This sheet music should work for all instruments that are not transposed in a different key (ei. trumpet in Bb, french horn in F, clarinet in Bb; you guys may request it, otherwise stop making requests), and for instruments that can read treble clef (you may request if your instrument is not in treble G clef, otherwise stop!). If it is out of pitch range, then add either a 8va or 8vb to the sheet music. If there is a chord, just read the top note only. Piano is a universal instrument that can work on almost all instruments (and as a basis for studying music). There's nothing weird or confusing about the piano!

oh, because the treble cleff is in the wrong key
What does that mean? Clefs and key signatures has nothing to do with each other. Violinists read treble as pianists do. The melody does not fall below G3 (G below middle C) so there is no need to worry. Everything you see in the piano score will be compatible with violin.

I also really desperately need a cello peice. I know, I know "Use the piano F clef" or whatever. unfortunately, I operate exclusively on base clef. And yes, I do in fact treat piano like it is an alien notation, due to the fact I cannot play piano or read piano notes. If you havent guessed it, Im somewhat amatuer. But I really need the piece. please.

Don't worry, cellists are not expected to learn the treble clef since they mostly learn bass clef. So it's ok to treat the treble clef as "alien" language from a cellists' perspective. Nyu can probably change the treble clef to a bass clef in a matter of seconds, and drop it down an octave.
As for you violinists, here's the sheet music.

Actually at the moment I am not capable to transpose the melody for fit the cello. I don't have Finale in this PC. The only I can do is to give a MIDI file. Unless you guys want to wait for a while till I get my new Finale; and I doubt you want that wait. Otherwise, anyone kind that want to help to make it, feel free to do it.

a sightread through the guitar tab went rather smooth at around 160bpm although i do recommend leaving that annoying bass out unless you have a very dexterous thumb. up until bar 21 to around 46. if someone can play that at 180bpm then, damn, good job.
great transcription nonetheless

I think there will be 1 notes out of range for that recorder if is in C. I will transpose it later. (The Higher E).
Otherwise, you can play the upper staff in the piano version. Just ignore the legato. When you see a chord just play the upper note of it.
