So how will you throw an egg from a second floor without break the egg? This is a college experiment for bring ideas of possibles solutions for solve the problem of not break the egg. I am just wondering how would you do it?

Our first idea was to cover the egg with a plastic (The one we go so crazy exploding the bubbles) and to put it in a bottle filled with water and salt for then to cover the bottle with another plastic of bubbles.

We have no done it yet but the problem I see there is the egg may reach the bottom of the bottle in the moment of receive the impact against the ground and break it. Something very dense it can help I think.

Pad the inside of the bottle with foam. Cover the bottle in tin foil.

Put it in a shoebox. Surround it with paper towels. Worked for me from the third floor. = \
That's a boring way to do it though, hahah. :)

My wife told me a good way to do it (She once did it).

She put the egg in a plastic peanut butter jar inside a small box and at the top of the peanut butter jar a marsh mellow, then around the plastic jar cushion. She said it worked.

Hard boil it.

Actually I did this before. I don't remember exactly what I did, but I know I used twinkies and ketchup packets. The egg was messy, but it didn't break.

ironically, this was done in an episode of full house.

Go watch Mythbusters. Adam made a paper cone stlye design so that the cone point would crumple before the egg. Jamie tied it to string so that he was on the second floor but his egg started from just inches off the ground.

Lmao. That's probably the funniest, most creative solution I've heard. =D

My favorite way to do this is to take straws and Kleenex and make a quad-helicopter blade and with the rest of your straws make a housing for your egg. When you drop it, the blades will spin and slow the fall of the egg.

Two words: Magnetic Field. Form an iron (or another conductive metal) cradle (inner cage) and stick it inside a field of magnets (outer cage) so that the egg is pulled equally from all sides, making it seem like the egg is levitating/floating. The only problem with this method is it requires some really strong magnets.

Or he could just build a teleporter that teleports the egg from the window to the ground. He'll drop it into the teleporter, of course, to make it a legal drop. But it'll only fall an inch or so, which means it won't have gained any momentum by the time it's on the ground! The egg will actually reach the ground a thousand times faster than all the other eggs, yet it'll suffer the least amount of damage! That's an A project for sure! =D

Make some sort of parachute and put the egg in it.

That show's so rubbish it doesn't even get repeated on telly here anymore. Yuck, Bob sagget :bleh:

I don't think that show is repeated -anywhere- anymore. I keep seeing clips here and there online and wondering why the hell I watched that as a kid. ...aside from the crush on uncle jessie, but we won't get into that.

As for the egg, I remember doing that in school years ago. I forget exactly how I did it, but it was basically an inner shell filled with cotton suspended inside an outer shell by rubber bands. I also forget how it turned out.

Put a curve ramp at the bottom so the downward momentum of the egg gets converted to a horizontal momentum. Pretty easy to accomplish if you can drop it off perfectly on a smooth side of a building without and wind.

Hey, I did the same thing with my classmates. We were suppose to let the egg land safely only with straws and a small plastic sheet. We made a tiny parachute-basket. It survived 4 floors. I suppose you could use someone else method, which is to suspend the egg in a triangular structure shell, not quite sure how to explain it though.

You applying sueprglue all over the eggshell and lacquer it and then melt arcrylic over it! Yes!

We did it days ago, I did the one my wife told me, just that we put the jar in the marsh mellow bag with the rest of the marsh mellows and cover it with tape. The egg didn't break till I came back to home by an accident I broke it. People did some interesting solutions.

Put it in a big bubble!!!

Big bubble? How is suppose to work that?

A parachute with a box having soft things for protect the egg is another option, I think.

Get an egg.
Throw it into your mouth.
Exit the building.
Place it on the floor carefully utilising your tounge.

No breakage. Voila.
