My bday is coming up in a few months, so naturally I'm doing what any sensible kid my age would do....letting every family member know what I want - money for a ps2 and games. I might be able to come up with enough (I reaaaaaaaally hope so), but I have no idea what games to get besides Kingdom Hearts. Or maybe I should go with an xbox? Any ideas, people?

well it depends on the games you like

RPGs mostly..no sports games or games with tons of shooting and stuff

then go with a ps2 because most of the RPG games are on there

I'd recommend PS2 -- alot of popular games and companies are making stuff, while turning their backs towards XBOX.

Edit: also as deathstar said, most of the RPG's are on PS2 ^^; XBOX hardly has any popular RPG's..
all the Japanese game companies have been focusing into the PS2 anyways.

don't do the mistake like i did because I went for a xbox instead of a ps2.

Yeah, it's very untrue..xbox doesn't have kingdom hearts and the .hack games...there's alot of stuff it doesn't have..

There are only 3 reasons i have an Xbox...

Halo
Halo 2

Well, you should get a PS2 for the following reasons:

*Less Expensive(I think)
*More accessories available(if you count PS1)
*Devil May Cry 1,2,3
*Final Fantasy
*Legacy Of Kain
*Silent Hill
*Castlevania

And Xbox:
*A computer
*Better graphics
*Halo 1,2
*Ninja Gaiden

Well, that's all I can think of, hehe. I'd personally suggest PS2, as I think the XBox doesn't has as many popular titles. But what do I know :)

Hmph. PS2 has a lot more than his list says it does. Anyway. PS2 USED to be a lot less expensive until XBOX lowered its price. Now what with the new $300~$500 systems, PS2 and Xbox will be obsolete eventually. If you want RPGs, there is no doubting PS2 or GameCube should be your choice. Gates just didn't hire the people, or didn't really put enough effort in the RPG area. Unless you count Morrowind, then, I guess, you might want it because of other games on top of playing Morrowind. All of the FF series is on the PS2, FF1-3 is in its own cool pack, and FF4+5 is, too. Along with Chrono Trigger, if you can find it. Then there's the old PS games, FFVII/VIII/IX and the PS2 games FFX/XI. I played FFXI, but it got boring, and fast. I was in denial of that for a while.

By "USED to" I meant it was less expensive. In the U.S, it was $200 to begin with, the XBOX $300.

That's what he's getting at. Used to be less expensive means nothing unless it's still less expensive.

Right now they are the same price where I live. $149 each.

Thats Microsoft's business tactics.. lose money on hardware sales, but ultimately get it back from the extra software sales boosted by the cheaper hardware price. Whereas Sony can't be bothered(and odnes't have to) because it already sold enough of its consoles

PS2 and XBox are both €150 here, about 100 pounds or 180 USD :mellow:

Actually PS2 is $150 now, price drop o.O and you're out of luck getting it now. The PS3 is set to come out next year...
