Is there any little tricks that would help play them easier, or do i simply just have to practice them a lot?

Im currently working on the first movement of Beethoven's first Sonata. Its been taking me a long time to be able to play through one of the sections without stopping to work on the trills. im also Still working on Chopin's Militaire Polonaise (Opus 40 no.1) because of the trills in the middle area. plus the trills in Mozarts Sonata in C.

Any suggestions would be helpfull, Thanks.

I don't know if this will help you or no but I practice doing trills with the 2 fingers while the other fingers are pressed against other keys without moves them from the key or while the other fingers playing something else. I do it with both hands and with each finger for exercise them better for try to not have one better than the other. If you practice it a lot on a piano and not a keyboard you will see your fingers will improve and with time will be easier for you.

Wow! you have a total different way of practicing trills compared to me!
Dont really know if this would help you Darkened Angel but i practise them slowly. Try in getting the actual trill right and that it's playing correctly and also in time with the other hand then once you've got the hang off it, play it faster and faster until its the actual speed! But i reckon Nyu001's way is also another good way of practicing! ^_^

keep your fingers and your hand as loose as possible. your fingers should be resting on top of the keys and the trill should be done entirely with the wrist- no tension in the hand/fingers at all

I don't treat trills any differently - they're just fast notes. With that said, I don't like the wrist approach.

Practice slow at first, in the manner of regular notes (it's really just playing fast notes with two fingers).
Hands 100% relaxed, and 100% muscle (no wrist at all). It may seem like a contradiction, but it will make sense quickly.
You should have complete control of your hand and fingers and should not fatigue easily even if you trill for bars and bars.

You will eventually be able to transition into and out of trills smoothly and naturally from any passage as if they're no different from any other note.

Perfectly explained.. and you beat me to the advice giving, once again Thorn. =P

And you have to remember that trills are an illusion; don't worry about the speed you're playing them, but make them melodic.. who wants to hear two notes being banged out at the speed of light? No one.

Anyway, stick to Thorn's explanation; it's what the pros do. :)
