How do you notate music for a drum set? (like the ones they use in rock bands and stuff) Because when I tried to figure it out on finale by testing out each note and the like, it was really confusing. x_x I really would like a drum part added to one of my songs, so any help on this would be greatly appreciated. :heh: And anyone who calls me a dumb orkadork for not knowing this shall get my cello thrown at them. XD

Greetings, I had similar problems adding percussion into music, but later learned how percussion music is actually notated. Here's what I found useful:

I didn't even know there were different noteheads for percussion prior to this =)
Image came out of my Sibelius software manual.
Various drum rolls are notated with a Z symbol on the stem of the note.

To notate different percussion being hit at once, write them like chords as you would in a piano part.

By the way, do you have any specific questions regarding percussion notation?

That was kinda helpful, but it looks like that was for orchestral percussion. I was asking about a drum set, like the ones they use in rock bands. :heh: I tried using the 'add a drum beat' option on printmusic, but that didn't really help. XD
