my best friend Glo, has a mom who is a piano teacher (she also is my piano teacher). Glo says to all of u fellow music nerds, having a mother whos a music teacher may sound kool. Well, in the long run it is quite inconveniant. The will to argue with ur teacher (mother/father) is always present, and it makes it rather inconveniant to learn anything. Also said that music teacher has other students (like me), the piano is always occupied making it hard to practice. And she wont let me get an elect. keyboard for my room.

There's that underlying, "My kid is going to be the best--and I better make sure because I'm teaching them!"
I can see why it sucks, and I'm sorry for you and anyone else like that. Parents are a good start and influence, and maybe some are great teachers, but like most people--they change teachers from time to time.

That's so true. And there's those parents that think "Oh, my kid's so great! Now she's going to become the best" (like my mom, who thought I was a genius in my first years and put a lot of on me pressure so playing wasn't as fun anymore...)
But if I end up teaching my kids I wouldn't want them to become the best if they didn't want to themselves. Because that might turn off their inspiration to play. It's supposed to be fun with music, not like you wanna run away as soon as you have a lesson.

The tc's story reminds me of my piano teacher since she has two sons whom she is now teaching piano and she's going really hard on them. However since they are only like in 1st grade I don't think they know the idea of dissent.

You shattered my dreams of raising a child prodigy. Thanks.

Oh, raise a child prodigy by all means - just let someone else teach them *grins* Luckily for me, neither of my parents are musically inclined, so they just let me go away and learn how I want to - and I'm never going to be gifted, so there would be no point pushing me anyway!
