Hi all,
Any idea where I could find a string arrangement for this fine song. It would be much appreciated!

Have you seen the piano version at Josh's? You should get your inspiration from that.

I'm sorry, I couldn't find that song at Josh's site.
I'd like to play it at my wedding! I was hoping for a string arrangement I could hand over to the lovely string trio I've hired. Seems hard to find string arrangements of anime that I enjoy

A wedding?....ow.........I'll see....what instruments and how long is it?
I'll be done if you give me a deadline.
...or browse though my sheet site and see if any strings arrangement appeal to you x]

That's generous of you to offer, but now I'm wondering if this will be too hard for my string trio (2 violas and a cello) to learn and play successfully. I assume you play violin - what do you think? (And thank you)
My wedding is June 21.

I found the piano arrangement for Yakusoku on Josh's site...I ask you good musicians here, could string players use that arrangement, or would it have to be signicantly modified?
At this point, I'd be happy for a solo violinist to play the main melody, sans accompanient, if that would be the easiest.
Jill-Jênn
May 5th, 2008, 06:02 pm
But you prefer a trio, don't you? ^^
I think it would be a real arrangement. Do you have the same level as the other altist?
Violon or viola?

I don't play any instruments, so I need all the help I can get.
Could a musician play a new piece of music, with only a couple of weeks practice, as long as they're reading the sheet music in front of them?

I can easily do this by myself Jill, it's a string trio after all.
Strings is my specialty even though I play the violin =]
I'll get it done within a week.
Gratz on your wedding, and yes a musician can easily play a sheet music within days after practice.
I just hope they make sense of my sheet x]....
And now with the information at hand I will do:
Anime: Escaflowne
Song: Yakusoku wa Iranai
Instrument: 2 Viola, 1 Cello
Estimated done time....11th May....
So do i make the song, same speed as the normal song or a little slower?

Can you really do this for me? I'm emailing the trio right now to make sue they will do requests, so don't do anything yet. I'm excited, though, and thank you!
I think the normal speed would be fine.

The string trio said they would be glad to look at the Escaflowne sheet music. So could you please go ahead and transcribe Yakusoku?
I told them I'd have the music to them by next week.
Thank you guys so much, Infinity EX and Jill-Jênn too!

Is a viola different from a violin? I'm pretty sure there will be at least one violin, if not two...should I ask?

Also, I only need the first 2:02 minutes of the song, since it's my recessional. On the copy of the song I'm listening to, it starts going into what sounds like bagpipes at 2:03 - I don't need more beyond that.

May 7th, 2008, 02:54 pm
Understood, yeah you gotta make sure you don't mix violins and violas up.
I'm afraid you gotta ask.
And yes, i'll do it until the bagpipes.

It is 2 violins and a cello, for certain.
I'm not having a singer - will the vocal part be transcribed for strings, to be played on violin instead of sung?

Finished...
The best I could do...the background harmonic wasn't string friendly....
Sounds good either way =]

It's from Yoko Kanno. Maaya Sakamoto is just the singer :)
What I think:
"-->" means "replaced with"
Bar 10, Vln. I: F E --> F# D E
Bar 19 20 21 22, Vc.: D-D E-E --> Bb-Bb D(above)-DAD
Bar 24 25, Vc.: Bb G --> Bb(one octave below) E(below) F# G
Bar 29, Vln. II: D E E --> D A(below) E
Bar 41 42, Vc.: G F | G --> G(half note) D | C D
Bar 67 68 69 70,
Bar 72 73,
Bar 77,
Bar 89 90, as above :)
Why didn't you transcribe at 1:00?
Great work anyway!

I did transcribe a lil after 1:00..... I changed a bit on Violin II. Although yeah you got a point ._."
I just wrote the exact music transcription.
I'll look at your advices....
And yeah I know Maaya Sakamoto is the singer... If you look at my other transcriptions, music with vocals, I use the vocalist names as "Original", where as non vocal songs I tend to use the composer's name...just a habit of tradition and the sake of it x].

I looked at them, and all I can see that fits with the song is:
Bar 10, Vln. I: F E --> F# D E
Bar 19 20 21 22, Vc.: D-D E-E --> Bb-Bb D(above)-DAD
the others don't make any sense to the sound.

well done for the work! sounds good.
i am not familiar with the song, but listening to it just now I think apart from those mentioned above the Bar 29 correction is the same as in the original piece... (or maybe it really doesn't fit... i have only listened to it once or twice :P)
also bar 25 Vc. sounds like E F#?
to add more confusion i would say G D | G C D for bar 41-42 Vc. XD (feel free to ignore this...)
