As the title says. When you listen to music, what do you listen mostly to or which chord/key do you like to play in? You can only vote for one choice so vote carefully.

I chose Major because it's not minor... Nothing against minor, but it's too not Major...

C major. Nice and happy. Simple to figure out progressions.

Dissonance; it's been so hard for me to stay in one key recently. xD

Minor cuz it's epic, emotional, and evil. Triple E's yay.

Anyone who's new to piano and like to bang keys randomly should vote for dissonance :P It makes you a true musician! Anyone who tells you it's not music, tell them it's called dissonance and that is part of the music terminology.

I voted dissonance, but my real answer is that I don't prefer either one. I'd much rather listen to/compose music in Lydian or Dorian mode than Major or Minor. However, to justify my answer of dissonance, it helps add a new dimension to simple major and minor, and helps develop the emotion in both.

i voted dissonance, but dont you mean modal or atonal if we're talking key?

i like Db major and F# major; easiest keys to play in on the piano =P

I love the mysterious and thoughtful moods that can be created using minor chords, so I vote minor.

I voted for dissonance. I listen to a variety of music anyway not just sticking with one type, Major, minor, dissonance, modes, etc.

I like them all. >< Minor can be sad but still beautiful, while major can be powerful and grand... and dissonance is just fun. I suppose I'll go major, since most of my favorite songs are major.

I prefer Major because it has a happy optimistic feel , like walking to school playing The Entertainer or Mario on my flute (I swear someone would throw a shoe at me if I did it). Minor has a contemporary feel to it, making it beautiful and memorable.

But I'd choose Major over Minor imo :).

Actually, they used Minor in the Renaissance period, the Baroque period (at least 50% of the time), the Classical period (the same), and the Romantic period (probably even more), too. <_< The contemporary feel you refer to is probably from the modal form of minor, or Aeolian mode, which does not necessarily utilise a raised leading tone in the dominant and the leading tone chord. They didn't use that a lot in any of the above periods mentioned.

I made an arrangement of Mario's Theme in A minor. It's evil-sounding and Mario has an evil brother! Dark mario's Theme. Though it's for piano.

I tend to go for minor. I like the haunted sound you get. Of course dissonance and majpr are awesome as well.

It's so hard to say.. I use all three equally. XD Hehe, but I picked Major, because those are the most simple yet impactful about .01% more than the others.

Still.. it's sooo close XD

I love minor keys. Especially in Baroque music. Most of the music in major keys are just to "cheery" for me. (there are exceptions, but not enough.)

We had this really annoying piece to play in my piano class that was in D Major. I transposed it to D Minor and now it's so much more bearable. ^_^

well, i like major cos it's sound happier and more cheereful, but minor is also fine with me since i like the sweet sound and melody it creates
