Hi everybody,

I'm new to this forum. I'm trying to learn to play the piano. With one hand it's easy,.. :) But adding the left hand is difficult. Mostly I don't have a list of simple songs to start with so I can slowly learn to use both hands.

I don't know if this makes any sense, but I'm pretty sure that using both hands is possible for me. I'm typing with 2 hands as well and that requires both hands to do different things as well. The thing is that I don't remember how I tought my self to use both hands while typing.

And learning to type with 2 hands is much easier because as far as I can tell there is no back space button on a piano.

So can you recommend some simple songs to start with? If you could tell where to download the sheet music as well, I will be very happy.

Buy a beginner book!!! It doesn't cost too much and they usually have around 30 songs. It really does help -.-

It's that I want a book that's in english while I live in Brazil... So I haven't found a book in english yet.

Do you recommend any specific book? (in amazon for example)

i recommend Piano Adventures Level 1 Arranged by Nancy Faber. Thats what i started out on and i guess im ok now im almost done with level 5, start out with the lesson book and the performance book would help too.

When I was first learning, my teacher had me practice from a book called "Dozen a Day" by Edna-Mae Burnam. It's alot of good beginner practice stuff with both the left and right hand.

Well when i first learned, I played out of a book called "The Music Tree" there are like 4 books or something, with over 40 songs each, with tips and hints to help you along. But they are the best learning piano thing that i can suggest.

Good Luck With Your Practice Mate... =)

I remember when I was learning piano, those previously-mentioned books "Dozen a Day" and "Piano Adventures" were what I mostly used. After I stopped taking lessons, I began practicing some simple songs a couple years later.

If you don't really want to buy a book and just want to download simple sheet music to practice with, I recommend herbalcell.com. It really has some great simple sheet music, although she does make some sorts of mistakes while arranging them.
