Wow, so many effects in that midi. What instrument was used in the beginning? Is it some kind of rain stick (or w/e it's called) or something?

There is a midi for this song?

ZOMG!

(It sounds like it's not quite right though)

On the contrary, I think it sounds pretty close... It's just that the volumes for different voices aren't quite right. At one point you can only hear the melody if you strain your ears.

If I'm not mistaken it's MIDI instrument 123 (seashore) -- you can check it out here (http://www.buzzwood.com/midtest.htm)

Oh, my dreams are coming true! ^.^ (haha, corny-ness)

I am very much looking forward to your more advanced one! It's taking every bit of my will to not sit down and play this at the piano right now. But, alas, I really should study for finals.

So, these are all in different keys. Is there any consensus on which key Caramelldansen is written in?

PorscheGTIII
June 26th, 2008, 08:15 pm
F Major most definitely.

thequietwriter
June 26th, 2008, 08:18 pm
But your beginner version was written in F# ...? Is that what you meant, or did you change your mind after the fact?

Gotank
June 26th, 2008, 08:19 pm
Actually, there's (atleast) two versions of this song. The original is written in the key of D# while the Speedy Cake remix has a faster tempo and written in F# I believe.

PorscheGTIII

Yeah... F# my bad. :heh:

Ah, gotcha. Thanks! I started learning your version earlier and once I got it down fill in the gaps by ear. Unless someone else comes up with something more complete.

I never realized the original and speedycake versions were in different keys. But then again, I haven't listened the original very many times.

Porsche, do you have a .mus or .midi file of your version of the song? I'd like to use it to build off of, if you don't mind.

PorscheGTIII

Sorry, no can do. I've had issues in the past were people would take works, replace it with their name, change nothing, and post it elsewhere. :(

Ahh, indeed I noticed that you seem to prefer making MP3s instead and almost never release midis =)

But still, my reasoning is that if someone really wanted to steal transcription credit, they can just go through the work of inputting the notes from pdf and then making it their own transcription anyways, so there's really no way to stop them.

But that requires more work than just slapping on the MIDI transcription, or using the MUS file.
If they write it up from scratch, there's nothing to do about it because they're at liberty to do so.

Gotank

Well yes, but I think it comes down to what aspect of the work you put into a transcription you value more. The effort it takes to listen and figure out the notes/tempo/rhythm/etc., or the time it took to turn what you've figured out into actual sheet music?

Oh ya, and there are also programs out there that can scan sheet music and then convert it into .sib and .mus files too if I'm not mistaken.

Edit: And I'm not sure if people should be at liberty to take transcriptions and claim it as their own if they inputted the notes themselves. Because to a certain degree, that's still the intellectual property of the original transcriber. It's kind of like transcribers crediting the original composers because it's their song that they simply 'copied' in a different sense.

OMG a Caramelldansen midi. It sounds kind of off, but it's just the volume of the seperate files... and the fact it's just a midi.

Wow, I stumbled across this too late. I arranged it in the last few hours as I've always wanted to play it and couldn't find sheet music. Attached is more advanced sheet music, except in the original key (Eb Major) no Speedycake -- hence, slower -- and with lyrics. Sheets are also cross-posted on my website (http://music.sebastianwolff.info).

Happy playing / singing!

Would someone mind transposing GermanSeabass's transcription into G Maj, D Maj, or F Maj? Those are my easiest keys (other than C, but I don't much like C for some reason). I don't really know how to make something a different key. Can whoever does it transpose up unless it only goes down two or three semitones?

Because playing the treble on the piano with flute is just...not right.
