@_@@_@I need advice on something. It kinda sounds dumb but here goes. How are you able to mix a harmony and melody part?? I mean i play the cello the melody comes naturally to me but the harmony doesnt. ANother thing how are people able to distinguish notes just by hearing them? I wish i could do that.....

With distinguishing notes... I'm sure the vast majority of those still need a reference point. It's basically comparing a note you know with a note you don't know. Although I've heard that there are those who memorized the absolute pitch of a note, so they don't need a reference point at all.
Personally, I sing out everything in my head with the note names (with 'Do Re Mi' thing) while I play songs, which also allows me to transpose the song to another key if needed.

Lots and lots of practise.
And, for harmony and things, when i first started to compose i chose a chord that had my melody note/s in, and then built upon that, either playing each note of the chord separately, or adding in the odd dischordant note. Also, I used to look through pieces i could already play, and borrowed bits of harmony from them. I soon learnt what to put where.

THanX I kinda get what you guys are talking about. But I guess the only way ill get good at composing and listening to notes is by first hand experience...
Ive done a composition for the cello but it doesnt sound exactly how I envisioned it in my head, i still need to tweak it a little

You should post it here for feedback. That helps a lot with composing, and everyone is really nice here!

Thats a pretty good idea... My recent composition ( actually my only one) was completed about a year ago. Its a cello solo its plain but beautiful. But it doesnt sound exactly how i wish it to sound cuz i dont really know how to work FinaleNotepad to its full potential....

With harmony and melody, try using the circle of fifths to reference what notes should go together in chords when the parts are played together. Just go by what sounds right.
