Hi Penguin!

Lono!: Sounds funny with those timbres. Sounds joyful and playful for me.

Not so Saxequential: I heard this before the first time you put it up. I like it, It sound nice with those samples. In moments It feels dull for me but still is great. My favorite of the five you posted here.

FantasY: The little intro is nice (Without include the first secs of it reversed). I think you can recycle it later in any other compositing you do.

I am not commenting on the others because I don't remember them very well when I downloaded them, not so great memory remembering music or sounds always. =p

Hope you have a fun in your summer of music and discover and learn more in your free time.

Thank you for the comments ^^

Yes, I agree XD
It sounded even wierder as a MIDI though, so I put it through that free online converter at Hamienet

I'll keep trying =)

LoNo: That's a really neat song! Perhaps it could be longer?

firefly: It sounds really good, but also a bit repetitve. :heh: It does fit with the image you are trying to put with the song though. ^^

fantasy: It's nice, it kinda sounds like some of the stuff in super mario galaxy. XD Hell, this song could even go in that game. I wish it was longer though, because this song would really sound nice if you added to it. :D

thanks zippy ^^
I'll make the adjustments you suggested to the songs (lengthening, de-repetifying ( is that even a word?)) and post the results ^^
A friend of mine said exactly the same thing about mario galaxy and fantasy XD

It's just short, I've never writien anything like this before, but I quite like the way it's panning out so I'd like to hear people's thoughts :heh:

Nice Penguin, quiet short but enjoyed it. You should at least make it 1:00/1:30 long.

If you have a sequencer that can use soundfont I would recommend you to look for soundfonts on the internet that are free and do the effects by yourself, you will have at least more control of what is happening with the sound, and might find a soundfont that can bring you a better sound quality than converting your midis in that site. Also to be free to add the quantity of reverb you wish, to pan, to equalize, etc.

My favorite of all I have heard of you is still "Not so Saxequential".

weee~ loNo! sounds really cute... reminds me of games xD btw liking the screech at the end ;D
the jazz one, very nice i just thought maybe you could make the piano solo more elaborated (as they always are) your music has a very nice easy feeling

firefly: lol maybe i'm just random but the chimes reminded me of christmas xD doesn't seem sinister at all... it sounds like the fireflies were having a party in there +_+

fantasy: very nice begining, like how the drums faded in... again, i dunno if i'm starting to miss winter or something, but this one reminds me of a winter wonderland xD i guess you're sticking to your name very well -pokes the round penguin on your av/sig- although in my opinion it doesn't really fit well with your theme. xD

choir thing: (btw that's choir w/ strings rite) now that's sinister *-*" nice polyphony, since you said this was a sampling then i won't go on about the weird harmonies at the end... i'm sure you'll elaborate on that...

NOW...Notturna pour Lui (or did you put the per on purpose?) i really like the eighth note part in the middle. maybe you can add in a little chromaticism just to get in the spirit of the romantic era xD i'm a big fan of romantic music and a big part of it is chromaticism. otherwise i'm sure your "someone special" will like it... i mean like i'm sure he doesn't have girls composing for him every day ;)

great work!

A curious piece, really - the melodies feel kind of flighty, but the harmonies start off rather somberly. Sounds rather off-kilter, but I enjoyed it for that unsettling quality. The arpeggio section near the end felt a bit weak, as it feels rather formulatic in comparison - personally I'd probably abridge that part a bit, or spread it out more within the piece. You also might want to watch the pedaling, as there are parts it abruptly cuts off.

Notturna pour Lui (or did you put the per on purpose?)

Oh, I'm not sure? It was meant to be in Italian, so correct me if I'm wrong but I thought that Per would be the correct word? I thought pour was french... ah, my languages are terrible but I do try

That's choir and strings, right?

Ah, well there's Strings, SATB choir and 2 horns. You can just hear the horns, but they sound a bit like the double bass XD

maybe you can add in a little chromaticism just to get in the spirit of the romantic era xD i'm a big fan of romantic music and a big part of it is chromaticism

I'd love to b able to do that, but whenever I try and incorporate it in my pieces it always sounds so strange (not in a good way haha XD)- any advice on how to use it to effect?

It does seem weak, I agree -_- I may cut that down as you said. The pedalling, on the other hand, when I wrote it down it was even throughout the piece, then when I converted the piece to MP3 it seemed to chop bits off :heh: ah well, the joys of computers XD

anyways.....

NEW PIECE!!!!!

This is my Jazz band and I improvising to Blue Bossa =)
woot for turning a bossa nova into a rock fusion piece XD
Anyways, I'm playing saxophone  *looks proud*

yay bossa nova *claps furiously* i lovvv bossa nova... good job on the sax!!
btw i noe practically next to nothing in italian xD i thought the title was french... hence the uncertainity in my post earlier...xD chromaticism is usually used to a) provide a transition from one chord to another, like just notes in between the main melody... i recommend some listening of chopin or lizst... =) b) it's used in sequences, like maybe you hav this tiny melodic line and you write it in first, then write it again a semitone lower, and a semitone lower again... etc, and sometimes you can use certain chords like G, F# and then F. experiment a little. if it doesn't fit your piece or you don't like it, then just leave it out. no one said that nocturnes have to have chromaticism did they? ;D

I suddenly feel better about my concert tomorrow ^.^

Thank you for the advice! I'm going to leave the chromaticism out of the "Notturna per Lui", as I'm happy with it right now, but I'm going to follow it up with a series of nocturns, so I'll make sure to encorporate it into my future work!

i recommend some listening of chopin

yay chopin! I love chopin!

Great Penguin, I liked it. Somewhat was missing the percussion of the Bossa Nova. Anyway, I enjoyed listening to it that I keep repeating it while I was fixing problems in my PC. Also you looks cute (Yes, unnecessary comment there).

 You've made my day! ^.^

Anyway, decided to do a little more with the choir piece off earlier, and added an introduction/build up section. The bit clagged on the end is just some more experimenting that I may consolidate into the piece later ;)

C/C as always :)

That section that is apart of the rest sounds nice, The french horn would sound better without the silences, having a melody. The new part you added as intro, I think it don't connect so perfect with what you had already done. But not so bad neither(The connection). What is C/C?

NEW PIECE!!!!!

This is my counterpoint challenge. =)
We had 30 minutes, had to start with a counterpoint, and could go anywhere we wanted from there, so naturally I ended up jazzing things around

That was strange and awesome at the same time. I like this! It sort of morphed from classical to "jazz" to modern and into something like free-form jazz at the end... kept me on my toes. If you could expand on this into a full piece, do it. :shifty:
