Paganini - Cantabile, Vln/Piano (Pag is awesome - he really does stretch the abilities of the violin!)
Elgar - Enigma Variations (Nimrod), Pomp and Circumstance March 1
Grieg - Morning,
Mozart - Eine Klein Nachtmusik
Handel - Arrive of the Queen of Sheba, Music for the Royal Fireworks
Faure` - Pavane` (this is a seriously gorgeous piece)

Hey, I'm working on the Fugue part of that Toccatta and Fugue in D. That's a miraculous piece. I'll give my recomendations by time period. The ones with stars are the "must hears."
Baroque:
1) The fast movements from Handel's Cuckoo and Nightengale concerto
2) Handel's Water Music: particularly "menuet," "Bouree," "Andante Allegro," and "alla Hornpipe." The latter is just classic.
3) Bach's Well Tempered Clavier "prelude in C major."
4) Handel's Dixit Dominus. See "Gloria Patri," "Dominus a Dextris Tuis," and "Iudicabit in Nationibus."
5) Bach's Concerto for Oboe, Violin, Strings, and Continuo in C minor. First and third movements
Clasical:
1) Beethoven's Fifth: first, third, and fourth movements. (*****)
2) Beethoven's Third symphony
3) Mozart's The Magic Flute (Die Zauberflote) particularly "Bei Mannern" and "Der Holle Rache" (*****).
4) Mozart's Don Giovanni, particularly "Madamina!" and "Don Giovanni, a Cenar Teca!"
5) Mozart's Requiem K.626 ESPECIALLY his DIES IRAE. (*****)
6) Mozart's Piano Concerto in A major (Adagio) (*****) This is the most beautiful Piano Concerto I have ever heard.
7) Kyrie from Mozart's Mass in C Minor. This was in Triplets of Belleville.
8) Mozart's Rondo Alla Turca
9) Mozart's Marriage of Figaro. Overture (*****) and Non Piu Andrai (*****).
Romantic
1) Obviously Beethoven's 9th. 1st, 2nd, and 4th movements. (*****)
2) Schubert's Der Erlkonig (*****) Extrodrnarily creepy piece.
3) Schubert's Unfinished Symphony, first movement.
4) Faure's Requiem. See the Pie Jesu. (*****) Perhaps the most beautiful sacred solo in existance.
5) Bizet's Carmen. "Overture," "Votre Toast," and "L'amour est un oiseau rebelle." (*****)
6) Bizet's Agnus Dei. Particularly the a capella choral version. Simply marvelous.
7) Wagner's "Ride of the Valkeyries."
8) Tchaikovsky's first piano concerto (first and third movements.) (*****)
9) Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture (*****).
Contemporary
1) Stravinsky's "L'oiseau de feu."
2) Tan Dun's "Farewell" from "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon." (*****)
Sorry, as you can see, I'm not too up to date on contemporary stuff. Of course this is just a pathetic fraction of the wealth of Classical Music there is out there. I'm always finding more great compositions. Give us some feedback and tell us if you like our recomendations.

Te Deum, Op. 22 - Hector Berlioz (There are also settings by Handel, Charpentier, etc.; but the Berlioz is the grandest and best of them.)
Requiem, OP. 5 - Hector Berlioz (There are also settings by Mozart, Dvorak, Faure, Durufle, etc.; but, again, the Berlioz is the grandest and best of them.)
Any of the Symphonies of Gustav Mahler (esp. #1 ["Titan"] and #2 ["Ressurection"]), Anton Bruckner (esp. #4 ["Romantic"]), Jean Sibelius, Antonin Dvorak (esp. #9 ["From the New World"]), Robert Schumann, Johannes Brahms (esp. #s 1 & 4), Felix Mendelssohn (esp. #3 ["Scottish"] and #4 ["Italian"]) and Josef Haydn. There are plenty more by other composers (i.e. W.A. Mozart, etc.), but these will get you started...
Any of the Masses or Sacred Music (Glorias, Stabat Maters, etc.) or Oratorios by Schubert, Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, Handel, etc. There's 1500+ years worth of this particular genre, so you should be able to find *something* with even a cursory look...
I'm now trying to put as much of my CD collection as possible on .mp3 format. Time and disk space...I must have more time and disk space... XD

I dislike Berlioz. His requiem is definately not as good as Mozart's. At least you didn't say Verdi though.

Update.
Baroque:
Handel's Messiah. Especially, "Since by Man Came Death," "Behold I Tell You a Mystery" and the following aria, "And He Shall Purify," "For Unto Us a Child Is Born," and of course, "Hallelujah."
Classical:
-Mozart's concerto for flute and harp, last movement.
-Salieri's concerto in C major for flute, oboe, and orchestra. This is really fun and he obviously mimic's Mozart's style.
Romantic:
Bizet's "La fleur que tu m'avais jetee," from Carmen.
Mendelssohn's first piano concerto.
Contemporary:
Manuel de Falla's Three Cornered Hat. Check out the "Miller's Dance" and "The Neighbor's Dance."
Manuel de Falla's Nana.

I've recently taken an interest in classical music. I'm not a fan of big orchestras, mainly piano solos. Could anybody recommend a few piano solo pieces?
