Now I looked around a bit and didn't see a thread about this (I might be wrong) so I wanted to start a thread about cosplay. In this thread, you can post yourself in cosplay, or others if you want. As well, it would be fun to know if you guys cosplay often, if you make your own, etc.

This is me in a Hittokiri Battousai cosplay (from Samurai X, or the Rurouni Kenshin manga, a bit in the anime but not as much)
The wig is from a wig shop, I had to make it a ponytail and use a straightener.
The keikogi (shirt) is the practical kendo style, not the traditional gi used in most anime/manga.
The hakama is (pants) from kendo as well, although it's the wrong color. *well I'm sorry*
The sword is the 9260 Tenchi from Cheness inc., it's a silicon alloy monosteel, ran me 300$ and it's more resilient/forgiving of bad cuts than traditional (even katanas worth tens of thousands of dollars) swords, and I even re-polished it and made it a new handle with the traditional silk handle wrap (tsukamaki).

I'm cosplaying as....well just wearing a Black Shinigami costume for an Anime Con coming up. I'm making it at the moment....pics once it's done >.>

I'm preparing a Zelgadis cosplay, from Slayers the anime. I've got my Paperclay and my Spirit glue. I just need some glossy paint, the facepaint, the wig, fabrics for the clothes and some other details to finish up. I'll post pics of the scales (paperclay) as soon as they're done. Might be a few days.

I've always wanted to cosplay armored medieval characters, like the Angels in Diablo 2. I even came up with the way to have really nice looking "wings" that they have, involving optic fiber. I could do it if I wasn't so strapped for cash... I'm getting a new job in six to nine months, so it'll be for next year's cons.

hm...as much as people like playing dress up...i think people shouldnt wear things that they know (and everyone else) that they are not gonna look good/awesome in before posting 'cause odds are, people are gonna lie about the look of it all and its gonna give you the impression of looking even more awesome-mer in future wears (hahahaha) so yeap...just little advice before dressing up and then taking pictures and post on the "net"...message me or some of your HONEST friends and see what they think....HAHAHAHAHA! oh well! BYE ^-^

From what I can decipher from your grammar and spelling and sentence structure, you misread the posts between Hopelesscomposer and I. To place it in simpler terms:

That just diminishes the whole point of cosplaying.

The whole point of cosplaying and anime cons are for anime fans to gather and have fun and get a good laugh. Some cosplays are good, some are bad, but we all have fun making and wearing the costume in the end. True that some cosplays are eye burning, but it adds to the experience!

If people only cosplay cuz they fit the part etc, then anime cons would be as boring as going to your local zoo.

I would prefer it if you used constructive criticism to rebut my point of view.

I cosplay along with a friend. We are currently TRYING to get up a page for us on Myspace. Our cosplay 'sanction' (or group, which is such an ugly word XD), is titled 'Lunar Metal'.
We are even starting up a cosplay store. You know, where someone comes in, requests an outfit and gets measured. Comes back a week later and pays for it and *poof!!* they have an awesome costume for an awesome price for an awesome convention!!

Sad thing is, we can't get enough ppl interested to get the group big enough to make a worth-while production center T.T

But, we are trudging on nonetheless :)

Our Slayers group and I (don't mind our Amelia being silly on her wheelchair (got her foot hurt XD))

I can post more pictures if requested, and I know my hair was supposed to be a bit more violet and the anime Zelgadis is a bit thinner but I think I did okay.
