Warhammer 40k : Dawn of War
The first game, based on the Space Marines eliminating the Orks, then discovering Chaos are also a threat, and then make it their objective to eliminate their Sworn enemy, the Chaos Space Marines.
Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War : Winter Assault
The first addition to the DoW series, this game revolves mainly around the Imperial Guard, a new race tasked with battling against Chaos and Orks. This game had the unique idea of uniting 4 races into 2 teams against each other through-ought the campaign. Each level altering between the 2 races, depending on which team you chose to play as.
At the end of Winter Assault, the mission of securing the Titans Gun, the Necrons are introduced, the creators of the game failed to explain how they just came to be there (x_x) but the main site had more detail;
"The great amount of lives gathering in the area of the Titan gave power to the lifeless machines buried deep in the planet, the very same creatures that brought the Titan to its knees, eventually the force of life was great enough to awaken these slumbering creatures...the Necrons returned to life once more to wreak their extermination upon the Universe once more..."
Now that explains how the Necrons came to be and in a clever twist of fate how 2 games later we journey to Kauruva and discover the Necrons there also :torch: .
Warhammer 40k : Dawn of War : Fire Warrior (Made for PS2, introduced to PC)

In this side-game for the PS2 the Tau are introduced in the first Dawn of War First Person Shooter, you control a new recruit as a Fire Warrior, K'ais, your first objective, destroy the Imperium of Man!, but later tasked with the elimination of a Chaos Sorcerer named Severus (Severus? Savarus?).
Relic says that K'ais in Fire Warrior is the Tau Commander Shas O'Kais in Dark Crusade, he completed his Trial by Fire and exceeded that goal to the extent of being entrusted with the life of The Great Ethereal (the head honcho, the big cheese, the man with a plan) of the whole Tau civilization, also introduced in Dark Crusade as a usable unit.
Warhammer 40k : Dawn of War : Dark Crusade
The first step into the conquering gameplay style. In this game we return to the classic Strategy style gameplay, but now the Tau and Necrons appear for the second time as 2 new playable races in a new style, conquer the planet!!!
There is no real storyline to this game but it is quite good in trying to make a story out of it what with special events and endings for each race.
I think the game developers covered how all the races got to Kronus.

The second game with includes conquer style gameplay but now you have to conquer 4 planets and 3 moons! :think: , you're gonna be a while.
2 new Races - Dark Eldar and Sisters of Battle.

This to-be released game in the side-series of Dawn of War will be a role play game much similar to that of something like Guild Wars, relic are all secretive about this game but they said there will definitely be the introduction of the long awaited race and they will be being used as the main antagonists.
The Tyrranids!
(...to be honest with you, besides how awesomely powerful they are supposed to be, I don't see much excitement in the Tyrranids release but if that's what DoW fans want...)

Relic question the production/release of this game, they hope it to end the first series of Dawn of War so they can begin Dawn of War 2. Relic are being really secretive about this too but not as much as the MMORPG, apparently this is the last stand between all the races.

Not much information, oh wait, it's the second (fifth) Dawn of War game! :huh:
Relic hope to finish off the Sisters of Battle, Dark Eldar and Tau in favor of wiping the slate clean and beginning the next chapter of the story.
They said that fans went mad with excitement when they saw the awesome deathless armies approaching at the end of Winter Assault that they are keeping Necrons into the second installment of the DoW series!
Rumors around the internet of them planning to kill off Eldar and Chaos but it's been confirmed Chaos are definitely not leaving the fight just yet since the stories (that were written a while before the production of these games) first revolved around Space Marines versus their tainted brothers and the Xenos scum (Orks). Eldar were brought in just to add to the game I think, I mean come on, who doesn't love a good Elf race.
(and yes, Relic admitted that they were trying to get a completely new look out of the regular fantasy themed games, and they were even quoted "If we have to put Orcs on Venus, we shall!", which is amazingly where the idea for this whole series of game originated from ^.^.)
