Ehh it depends on what kinda guitar your looking for.
accostic, cant help you.

electric. go to guitar center, buy the beginer set. its a guitar, and amp that all comes in one box. i think its 150-300. but its worth it and if you get a good effects pedal then you wont need another guitar for a while.

my brother on the otherhand spent twice the amount of money because he decided not to listen to me, thinking the more you pay the better it is. and now he hates his guitar.

iv had the same one for years because its awesome. lol.

in the end you need to try it before you buy it. pick them up, play them, and try not to look at the price tag.

if your not afraid to put out the money you can get a really nice guitar for around 200 - 300 whether its acoustic or electric. If your just starting off I recommend getting an acoustic since you can pretty much play those anywhere and once you can play on an acoustic you can easily play on an electric; same can't be said for electric to acoustic. If your looking for brands epiphone makes good quality inexpensive guitars. But like the white rabbit said try before you buy.

I play acoustic... If your going to get into guitar buy a nice one... If you can't afford it just buy a cheap one (but make sure your guitar is tuned properly). Go to any good music stor around you and listen to a professionals thoughts... my guitar is used it a good starter guitar. Its a Jay Turser...
