Is there any anime that you would say you are ashamed of?

Pokemon once claimed to be a full-out anime, it's terrible, the story line is rubbish and it was all just a craze, thank god it ended.

So, does anyone have any others?

Dragonball Z. When people [that don't know about anime] think of anime, unfortunatly people think of this garbage. Thankfully, movies like Spirited Away are introducing good anime to the masses, so DBZ is moving back into the "cartoon" genre, where it belongs.

*raises hand* Yu-Gi-Oh. Oh, and Hamtaro.

Yes, Yu-Gi-Oh, Hamtaro snd Dragonball Z are terrible and thank god they are now considered cartoon! But I still like anime like Streefighter, can't help but rent the occasional video!

ahHh theres so much horrible anime but the ones that come to my mind at the moment are: yu-gi-oh(sp?) dbz, fist of the north star, metropolis,big O, gundam anything, and blue gender

What are you talking about? The Fist of the North Star is one of the best animes, they even have arcade games on it! Just what sort of anime are you talking about - surely not the cuddly animal kind?

ehHh...i just dont like it...it sounds incredibly corny and the animation bothers me...the plot also seems a little dull and cliche. of course i was watching the dub....which was horrible. i only watched it because A)it was just on hbo and B) gackt is in love with the opening song (and i dont even remember what it sounds like)

and fyi the anime im interested in includes(but is not limited to): samurai X, trigun, yu yu hakusho, and inuyasha

Well OK, I just think it's a little foolish to class The Fist of the North Star as one of the worst animes. Oh well, it's fair enough - simple statements for simple minds.

Oh well. I must add that.. DBZ was the first cartoon that even got me into anime, now I'm watching the good stuff like Ah My Goddess and Escaflowne and such... But DBZ attracts too many wannabe-addicts ...er...something.. I talk to many people at school and they're like "I LOVE Anime, I'm SO into it!", only to find out that the only thing close to anime they've watched was DBZ...

And then there was that MegaMan anime/cartoon... I dont even remember what it looked like so I dont remember if it was cartoonish or anime style art.

....what about teen titans? lol its like...and american attempt at anime LOL they even got a japanese group to sing the opening theme song (i only know that because one of the members is t.m revolution's ex wife)

I don't think it was in Japan. The animation looks too American to me.

Michael, please do not go round saying you hate members. For a start, Dragon Ball Z did originate in Japan, the animation looks nothing like the typical American animation, same goes with the style and storyline.

EXACTLY my point. Sure one can call himself anything he wants, but there is no real experience by seeing only one show of the thousands that are out there.

Some people might not agree with me, but I thought that FLCL wasn't the greatest. It was really confusing. I don't like watching an anime I can't understand. And I understand a lot of things.

I dislike FLCL aswell, I don't get it at all, but my brother really likes it

I LOVED FLCL. You have to understand that the anime was made by Gainax, the same people who created Evangelion. That anime was awesome beyond comparison, but it was difficult to understand because of all the religious symbols. FLCL is the same thing. There are a lot of parodies of other anime if you can figure it out, and it really is funny.

The best way of understanding FLCL is trying NOT to understand it. It'll slip in.

But going back to bad anime, I didn't like the Chrono Trigger series at all. It was horrible.

well...the worst animes to me are the ones that are usually dubbed in english and cut... most of the time it ruins the whole thing..ex: cardcaptor sakura...i was looking at the first page, and the ones that came up were dragonball Z, yu gi oh, and some other dubbed ones...which explains why they're so bad...

Cardcaptor Sakura was one of the worst dubbed animes I have ever seen. Cardcaptors almost seems like a completely different anime if you've seen Cardcaptor Sakura.

I never caught onto CCS. I was too lazy at the time. I also didn't know what anime was. It's too late now to at least catch the dubbed version.

I watch Adult Swim on CN, and one of the animes that they show that I don't care for is Big O. I'm not really into mecha type anime.

I'm glad they stopped showing Cardcaptors. It was a horrible interpretation of Card Captor Sakura.

Big O is an odd anime. The only reason why I watch it is because of all the piano music they play.

Speaking of CN and bad anime, have you guys stayed up really late and watched CN in the middle of the night, namely on the weekends? There's this one show, I think it's called Zodiac Warriors or something, that can be seen at this time of the night. I find it to be a really crappy anime, even though I only saw three episodes.

I heard about that. I saw a couple of episodes. In all honesty, It's wasn't that great. It was atrocious, in my opinion. I think they stopped showing that.

Exactly my point! Didn't is seem completely different? Every character was almost the opposite of what they were supposed to be. Sakura, I thought, was one of the worst because she was no longer this shy, innocent girl with compassion, but this spoiled brat with an over-confident attitude. At least, in my opinion.

yup..."knights of the zodiac" is totally x.X...and they even dare to call that lame dubbed "THING" anime...and for cardcaptor sakura, it's a beautiful anime + plot, but cardcaptors is totally brutal in killing off what the characters are supposed to be...

The thing about Fooly Cooly is that it takes alittle deductive reasoning to figure the basic plot out. If you don't understand it than look it up n google there are lots of sites that explain it. Also I think the fact that people are so used to serious animes makes it harder to understand it... which is why I watch all anime with an open mind. People just aren't used to comical anime. Of course the english dub on cn totally mangled the plot and took out the preverted parts that really put the icing on the cake. Even the dvd's aren't the uncut versions... ;_;. It's like that show Shin-Chan... that ws hilarious and the english dub was one of the best I've seen not one sentence changed words or meaning throughout the show... hows that for dubbing?! :twisted: Oh and as far as bad anime goes.. Ive never much cared for Tokyo Pig... or Beyblade.. or Digimon.....

The first time I saw FLCL I was confused beyond all belief! It wasnt until i read up on it and watched it again that I understood it. It was actually rather funny. As for Tokyo Pig...that pig was pretty cute but other than that I didnt much care for it. And Digimon was just....dah. And although it's difficult to admit this to some people, I rather enjoyed the early years of pokemon. I can't say the same for the show these days though.

I think the worst animes are stuff like Beyblade, Pokémon, Zoids and Yu-Gi-Oh, basically any anime created to sell toys. No one puts any thought into it, they just need to keep belting out episodes in order to keep the kids interested so they will but more toys.

Oh yeah I&#39;ve seen the Japanese Yu-Gi-Oh&#33; and I love it. It&#39;s completely different from the American one.

Sailor Moon is horrible, is shamefull, i get disgusted watching that. :angry: :angry: :angry:

They did&#33; They took out basically any episodes that had anything to do with Sakura and Lee&#39;s relationship, and also anything to do with Touya and Yukito&#39;s relationship (we all know they loved each other) *they probably didn&#39;t want to "corrupt" those little kids watching it*

totally agree...... the characters&#39; eyes are sooooo huge they actually occupy the whole face and leaves little space fer the nose and mouth.... so the nose and mouths are like dots on the face....... they look more like an alien than a person to me..... >_< scary if u ask me.....*shivers*

Note: FLCL had way too much in-depth secret meanings so that some people might not understand it and dislike it on their first run or even 2nd or third run through the series. NOte that they tried to also base it off the manga, which, quite frankly, wasn&#39;t that great a thing to come off of. You&#39;d also have to have watched some old anime to get some parts of episode 5. Also, FLCL was one of the better dubbed animes and my friend (who in my opinion is an anime GOD) says it was all decent save for Haruka&#39;s voice in english was a bit off. Agh.. I could go on and on but I won&#39;t ... this thread is about "bad" anime... but then again that&#39;s all in the eye of the beholder.

Whaaa? Gundam? Nonononono, I&#39;ve seen all of Gundam Wing. GW eps are not for the fait of heart....this could never be called a "cartoon"...to me at least, it is ANIME&#33; Big O is mega crap, though. I liked FLCL. I was addicted to Pilot Candidate(sp?) for some odd reason..but that was over a year ago when I saw it on cartoon network on adult swim..

I just thought of another---remember Monster Ranchers?&#33; Eww...and Beyblades? I have a friend who watches Beyblades (she&#39;s almsot 16 for God&#39;s sakes&#33;)...I don&#39;t get it...It&#39;s spinning tops. How stupid. -_-

FLCL is NOT a bad anime...

Why do so many ppl not like FLCL? I think it&#39;s great&#33; And sure it was only 6 eps., but that&#39;s all it really needed.

And I hated Pilot Candidate. I never really got into that...lol

Sashiro, dont knock Monster Rancher just cause you&#39;re out of their age demographic. It was one of the best shows for kids 8-14 and taught solid values in a way kids could understand. Plus a lot of the characters had unique feels to them placed in a familiar atmosphere (monsters fighting n yellin out attacks before they shoot giant beams out of their asses)

I only watched 1-2 episodes of FLCL so i cant judge it, but another thing is the Gundams. They were great works. Dont get me wrong, they dragged on a LotR scale at a lot of points but still they touched upon political ideals a LOT, just listen to the monologues in Wing or MS Team 8 or Stardust Memory. They certainly had a lot to say and had a lot of great action to go along with it. Granted some of the characters failed to impress, but that doesnt mean you can damn the whole series.

Also, anything with repetitious episodes (pokemon, yugioh, beyblade, bla bla bla) really can just be counted off as younger-kid anime as their short attention spans will only grasp what they know is cool so change can be very detrimental to a kids show er something. Hell just look at sailor moon. it&#39;s the same thing every episode&#33;

Zodiac Warriors was just a triumph of terrible writing. It was a bad action sequence with worse characters and god awful dialogue.

And hey anyone ever watch Magic Users Club? I think they took every stereotyped anime character there ever was and put them all into an anime with magic and skimpy outfits and tried to see if it could work.

Oh and whoever made the tenchi/ah my goddess remark, obviously they&#39;re gonna be similar&#33; they&#39;re the same genre of anime&#33; just like in all romcoms the guy and the girl slowly fall in love over sequenced mishaps up till their first kiss right at the end of the movie. It&#39;s basic formula. No i dont agree they should use it, cause it&#39;s cheap and repetitive. With more effort they could make a much more creative work, but that doesnt mean no good can come of it. I&#39;m just sayin...

The animation is atrocious, the storyline is atrocious, the characters are stupid and the mechas look like poo (not sure if i&#39;m allowed to swear here lol)

as for good anime, my faves are Fullmetal Alchemist and Shaman King

Actually, I haven&#39;t seen it for a LOOONNG time, but when I did see it I really loved it. The manga is horrible though.

I don&#39;t actuallly hate any anime, not really. Maybe that&#39;s just because I haven&#39;t seen enough. Although I would like to think that isn&#39;t my fault, because they rarely show anime on t.v. over here, and even then it&#39;s weird like yu-gi-oh and DBZ. Has anybody seen that show called Shinzo? It sort of reminded me of an old Chinese show about a monk and his three disciples. Weird, huh?
Also, I absolutely hate Cardcaptors because Nelvana totally messed up all of the episdodes, they reduced the whole series from 70 episodes to about 20-something episodes and showed them in the wrong order. Okay, enough ranting and raving.

It was absolutely fantastic in Japanese, however...I considered watching the English dub version of it, and it immediately turned me off, I doubt it'll do well in America or Australia (if it comes out here :P) no offense to those who liked and/or enjoyed the dub.

I can't stand DBZ, FLCL, or Naruto. Way too many fillers in DBZ and especially in Naruto.

DBZ is so bad that it was actually entertaining... You get to watch people in there compete in staring contests and power up for 5 episodes before doing anything.... It's worth a laugh.

The only anime that I dropped half way through is Shuffle!. I mean it's not so bad that it was unbearable, but I watched it right after Kanon and Air, and Shuffle just pales in comparison... Typical harem stuff....

I had never watched Sailor Moon and when I was reminded of it one day I sat down and watched every episode in succesion. Well....not all in a row, but when I could find the time I was watching them. (I sound really lame and sad, but I don't think it was a complete waste of my life.) A really lame anime is Pokemon (right now), in the begining it was okay but all their spin-offs are idiodic and they just need to kill everyone off and be done with it! One of the greatest animes I have ever watched is Ef-A Tale of Two Memmories. It is amazing visually, thought provoking, and a bunch of romance stuffed into 12 episodes. Also Mobile Suit Gundam 00. It's scream enducing, especially in the most recent episodes right now! Just watch one or two episodes and your absolutely hooked! Just don't watch the lastest episode first or you'll spoil the whole thing.

1) Chrono Trigger is not an anime; that's a game.
2) OMG Reign is soooooo low on that list. I didn't think it was that bad!
3) I don't see Canary, BeyBlades, or Legend of DUO (the worst animes I know of) on that list.

There is a Chrono Trigger anime, it's an OVA and it's totally rubbish.

Dual master sucked! D.I.C.E sort of suck too. And those are the two from the shit list, I've watched.

I don't recall ever having seen an anime that was TERRIBLE, but I felt that Inuyasha was grossly overrated. OH SPIRAL. Completely forgot about that. I watched 2 episodes and decided that being bored was a better use of my time than watching it. >=D Essentially, the first couple episodes were filled with extremely poorly scripted detective stuff.

i don't see how people really love naruto. it's basically a kids show. i use to watch it. adn yaoi fans are obsessed with naru sausu. (naruto Sauske Yaoi) i mean i watch it with my little sister. that's cause iam forced against my will. and dragon ball Z is so freakin stupid. i don't get it. how can people be obsessed with it. i see no point in it.

No wait, Naruto wasn't THAT bad. I mean at one point it was pretty decent. The character background stories for one was pretty interesting in the first few episodes. If only they decided to stop at 52 episodes... Series might not be getting such low opinions.
