This likely won't get updated very much, seeing as I don't have much time to actually arrange or compose cause I'm always playing. -_-

My first post is the MIDI of my arrangement of Lux Aurumque by Eric Whitacre for marimba quartet. I did this without a score, so there may be some 'empty' sounding chords, if anyone notices anything could you let me know? I want to perform this for our spring percussion recital.

Or... not. Thanks.

And here's another one, a drumline show based entirely on video game music. You see these all the time, but they're rarely challenging. This is the closer - based on Gary's Theme from Pokemon. I'll be adding Darkness of the Unknown from Kingdom Hearts later on, and this is just the skeletal front ensemble parts - it's strictly Gary as of right now.

I really like Lux Aurumque based off that .mus file, and it would be a great piece for marimbas. Same with Gary's Theme. I haven't heard many pieces around these forums for just auxiliary percussion (or just percussion). Keep at it! :)

Thanks! That is my forte, so you'll be seeing a lot more of it. =)

I need to get Virtual Drumline 2...

wow I like Lux's opening. the abrupt cut off of sounds with the rests sounded wierd to me though. the song felt like it there should be no breaks in the sound but that's just me. I like your chord stacking alot though, especially the choir.

Thanks! Well, the MIDI isn't really an accurate representation of what I want it to sound like, merely the closest I can get with the software I have. First of all it's for marimba quartet, not choir. I just have it on that effect to simulate rolls. However, the original piece WAS written for choir, and it's not supposed to be that abrupt, but a fade to nothing. Thanks again. =)

Aand I seem to be eating my words about not updating very much... May I present... the scrappings of my latest English project and my first real composition? No it's not done. Comments welcome on this and the other stuff too. =)

Nice "first real" composition. A few suggestions:

1) Exaggerate (at least a little) on the expression. (rubato, cresc., dim., rit., etc.)
2) Work on orchestrating crescendos (see Mazeppa's thread on Orchestration- I posted a link somewhere in it).

Good job, though. :)

Thanks! I'm just doing notation right now, I'll get the bulk of the expressions later.

The finished version of the Symphonic Journey of John Proctor!!!

NOTICE: This was created solely to be made into an audio file. There are strange dynamics and rhythmic notations. Get over it. It sounds what I want it to sound like. Putting the politically correct notation doesn't.

Hey, that was a really neat piece! I quite enjoyed how you've orchestrated the melodic lines, both in your choice of instruments for them and how you smoothly pass them from one voice to another. The overall texture is feels pretty transparent, and that combined with those nice dynamics really makes every line stand out. The only thing that felt a little bit cluttered was the 5/8 section - the transition in and out felt kind of abrupt in my opinion. Other than that, though - really well written work! I'd definitely be interested in hearing a live version of this.

Thank you! That probably won't happen anytime soon. Again, because I wrote it specifically to be performed by a computer, I think a lot of the individual parts would be unbalanced in difficulty, awkward, or completely unplayable. That's something I hope to work on in the future. But thanks again - high praise indeed for a first work. =)

I agree with Shizeet, it's a very nice sounding piece. I'm just curious, which scene was this supposed to go to? the court battle? when he's being walked to his hanging? or is it a journey through his entire story? either way it's great.

It's the entire story. It's like a drum corps show - it's only vaguely related to the theme. lol

Hey, guys. God, it's been a long time... -_-

Let's see, I have a few new little pet projects since the last time I posted anything, mostly arrangements, but I do have the beginnings of a compostion here. Take it for a spin.

Also included are a drum cadence I wrote that was played at one of our pep rallies last fall, and the score for my arrangement of Rachmaninoff's Prelude in G minor for marimba duet.

I like nino, lovable percussion there. :>

I: Intro inspired by Edward scissorhands?

Whoa, I guess so. I had a lot of subconscious influences in my last composition too.

Here's a little something that would be awesome to take to DCI I&E one of these years.
