I have been looking around while posting at people's usernames, and I notice some of them seem to be very unique. I always wonder where people get the idea for their username from! ^_^

This thread is to help suffice my little curiosity. So, just as the title says.. How did you come up with your username?

Mine is a simple, but relatively rare Japanese name that I liked. I chose it mainly because I loved the meaning behind the name -- which means "harp/lute (koto) sound (ne)"

Well, mine was actually a route of simplification to the MAX.

miestheredmage was the original name I had here at Ichigos. Separated out, you'll see Mies and Red Mage. Mies was a corruption on Meis Triumph (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thousand_Arms#Playable) from Thousand Arms, my favorite game back in 2004, and Red Mage (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Mage#Red_Mage) was my favorite RPG class.

Due to everyone referring to me as Mies instead of the massive username I chose, I asked to be renamed Mies.

Then I got lazy with typing and simplified it to M (though that's not the real reason; though I told ChristopherArmalite the real reason once), and that's where it currently stands.

My name comes from the fact that I'm supposedly a composer, even though I've only ever written two songs. That's where the "Hopeless" part comes from. One day I'll start composing in earnest, and then you'll all be sorry!
Maybe the "Hopeless" part could be applied to any of my hobbies, come to think of it. XD

Mine was from an inside joke between me and a friend and I wanted to label her "child-eating-monster" so I thought of a cutely-hideous name - "Furbob"

Kind of derived from watching too much Spongebob >_>" but "Furbob" sounded okay for a username so there ya go

But that was actually coincidence. Everyone called me Tony and I was playing a game called Dynasty Warriors. Made my own character with th intention of being part of the Han family so Han Tony was born. then this forum didn't allow spaces in the name so HanTony it was.

Hmm... Gotank was originally 'Supergotank4', the name a friend used on an online game. Then I brutally poked him with a stick and stole his alias. Then I shortened it to 'Gotank' so people would stop asking me whether or not my name is a DBZ reference. Unfortunately some still do on occasion.

It's the name of my design studio. But once it started to pick up speed, I found out there was some stupid company with the same name, so I added a "s" to it which is now titled, "Xspeed Designs" That and a lot of people misspelled it by adding the "s" to it which it never had. >.>

I needed a nickname to register and Inu and Star dubbed me random_tangent :P I could go dig the old thread on this subject up, but I can't be bothered.

Hmmm.. Well I first joined Ichigo's as Maestro, because that was simply a name that people had dubbed me with my new love of music.

For the past few years, however, I generally go by the alias Mazeppa-- which is in tribute for my love for the piano etude by Franz Liszt, "Mazeppa." XD

When I joined in 2002, at the time I was watching yuyu hakusho. Hiei --> favorite character --> screen name of choice.

I used to have Hiei as an avatar and signature, but frankly I lost it after switching avatars over time.

My original user name was Dream_Night, I wanted to avoid to have various user names in the internet and asked to get it changed to Nyu001. Nyu001 came from when I used to play Phantasy Star Online years ago. "Nyu" came just of a different form of sound that "would be" produced by a feline. I did not want to say Meow, mew, purr or any other thing alike. So I went with Nyu (New). The "001" comes from "James Bond 007", instead of "007", I just decided to use "001". I did not know of Elfen Lied (The character Nyu) nor of New York University abbreviation (NYU). :P

That user name had some transformations (outside Ichigo's) before using it as "Nyu001". It's evolution went like this: "Dream_Night" > "*******" > "****" > "***" > "Nyu-nyu" > "Nyu" > "Nyu001" (+ Variation) | > "Tensai Nyu™" (Used just in MSN). The ones marked with asterisks I prefer to keep them hidden.

- Dosbox - When working for MS I once played Doom 2 during work using Dosbox, hence people called me Dosbox.
- Neko Koneko - I once infiltrated on another forum using this name using a Garfield avatar. Good old days. It stuck.

Well my username comes way back from my days of mid primary school. My class was making a movie based around WW1 and I needed a name for the character I was playing. So out of nowhere I just thought up the name Richard E. Taemond (don't ask what the E stands for, not I even I know :heh:).

So yeah, I did come up with another name, Aldthain, which I used for all my video games. Although I stopped using it about 1 or 2 years ago. It just got too annoying to juggle Taemond and Aldthain as both account names and video game names.

In my very early days of gaming, like up to 10 years old, I used SuperNova. I just thought actual supernovas were fascinating and I just thought the word "Nova" was pretty cool as well. :heh:
