I have two favourite composer - Debussy and Chopin. =)

Who are YOUR favourite composers?

Copland, Oldfield and Yuki Kajiura. Copland is mainly for Appalachian Spring, and Oldfield because I love his minimalist pieces. As for Yuki Kajiura - the name's enough to justify ;)

May God have mercy on your soul. Anyway, if you've read any of my posts, I love Handel and Mozart. The others that are right under them are Bach and Beethoven. Below them are Faure, Schubert, Debussy, Chopin, et cetra. Berlioz is at the bottom. He uses bangies instead of talent. Look to Handel for "Big" music that still retains taste and decency.

Very doubtful...

Sorry Jujemu, I haven't had the chance to listen to George Winston yet . . ah, Koji Kondo *goes to play some Mario songs* . . . Sarah has a fan . . . Vince Gauraldi, the guy who did Peanuts/Snoopy?

Kitaro . . . that name rings a bell . . . I remember when I was young, I watched some Japanese guy playing on a bunch of instruments. I forget the names of the songs, but I can still hum some of the tunes now *decides to reminisce and search for info*

My favourites: Mozart, Chopin, Jay Chou, Taku Iwasaki, Nobuo Uematsu.

Jujemu
September 27th, 2004, 11:25 pm
...and Alphonse Nguyen! ^_^

Although I haven't heard any of his new comps. -_-

Yes! Vince composed most of the Peanuts' music. And yeah, that sounds like Kitaro - he specializes in the synthesizer. Did you see him perform live?

Al
September 28th, 2004, 12:07 am
*blushes* . . check out my thread and/or the CMA thread, cause I don't know which of my songs you've heard yet.

Ah yes, that's what it was called, the synthesizer! This was way way back, like more than 10 years ago, I saw Kitaro either on a recording or on the tv.

I agree, Nobuo Uematsu (I think FFIIV music is wonderful, esp. Advent: One Winged Angel and Sarutabaruta)
also:
Johannes Brahms - Sonata for Clarinet and Piano Opus 120 no 2
Camille Saint-Saëns
Shirou Sagisu (Think End of Evangelion and Bleach OST's)

SBmocyarpir
October 31st, 2006, 10:59 pm
-Nobuo Uematsu (Of course^_^ My playlist is made up mostly of FFVII/FFX music)
-John Williams(Star Wars! I have almost all of the SW movie soundtracks)
-Antonio Vivaldi(My favorite baroque composer! I wrote an essay on him last year!)
-J.S. Bach(My second favorite baroque composer! I love baroque music)
-Gustav Holst(His stuff grows on you! I went to a Planets concert recently^_^ And my orchestra played St. Paul's Suite last year [that song is really catchy, especially the fourth movement{Finale: The Dargason}])

That's all I can think of right now...oh, I heard someone mention Copland, reminds me of a funny story. My orchestra played a movement of Rodeo one day (Hoedown, I think. WOO! HOEDOWN!!!!!), and my stand partner was crying and yelling "It's too hard! I can't do it!" And he thinks he's the best violinist in the world.

Mozart, Beethoven, and Tchaikovsky. But Beethoven is my top favorite, I always love playing anything by him. As for non-classical composers, I love Asakura Noriyuki, Taku Iwasaki, and John Williams.

Asakura Noriyuki composed all of the Rurouni Kenshin music except for the music of the OVA, Trust and Betrayal (Tsukiokuhen), which was done by Taku Iwasaki. I was so impressed by the compositions that the music has ruined other anime OSTs for me and I have very high expectations now if I am going to buy a CD; .hack is the only other thing that has come close.

Frédéric Chopin. I obtained a large volume of his work; most of which I can play well, except for his famous Minute Waltz in all it's proper tempo and glory. But of all things, it's missing his Fantasie Impromptu. Pffsh. =[
And Phillip Glass; for his work in the documentary, "The Fog of War". I know. I'm such a tard, the only thing I could think of during the film was how good the soundtrack was. You'd think I'd care more about the content in a film such as that, but no.

God, Debussy's impressionestic style is really eating at me lately. It's beginning to become so natural and beautiful in all it's complexities.

Expect some records of my playings of his preludes book one in a bit.

Messiaen!

im reading his 'Technique de mon langage musical' (sp?) and he is actually a genius.

i was listening to his 'Catalogue d'Oiseaux' the other day and got told to turn it off because it was giving my mum a headache =/ i have also heard someone describe the 'Vingt Regards' as random clusters.

shame how little most people appreciate his music really...
