View Full Version : Final Fantasy VII String Orchestra Request

My school is putting together game sheets to eventually perform, and the director has charged me with a task: pick a game, then get a whole concert's worth of music from said game. It was either Zelda or FF7, and Zelda doesn't quite offer much... so FF7 it is.

I have been on nobuouematsu.com, and though Arnold Morrison is a gifted arranger, he hasn't done anything for the game. My request is for someone to arrange anything from FF7 for a four- or five-section intermediate string orchestra (v1, v2, viola, cello, bass... but the basses don't need their own part, they can play a cello sheet) for the compilation. (We are just a high school, after all, and we do have a couple of clueless freshmen.)

I have a feeling that the tunes most easily recognized are Aerith's Theme, the World Map theme, One-Winged Angel and the Jenova theme, but anything that would sound decent would be nice.

Thank you in advance for anyone who bothers to read this; if you'll arrange for me, that's even better! ^_^

FFVII songs are a bit much for clueless freshman, especially something like One Winged Angel... you might want to research in your part first, then request a specific song, other than letting someone else pick it for you and ending up useless.

Granted that they are clueless, we could always water down the part for them ourselves. We usually only play three to four songs, so we could omit One-Winged Angel in favor of something like the main theme. There's a girl who does synth accompaniment if we need it, and sometimes we can get someone in on some sort of percussion too...

Also, a more minor favor, would be for someone to transpose the Tenor part of the SATB arrangement of The Promised Land from AC into alto clef. ^_^;

I might do Aries' theme or cloud smiles....
Can the 1st violins all do 3rd position? Those songs are easy as the key is pretty simple. One Winged Angel needs pretty good 1st violinists and cellists... it'll be difficult for sure.

How long have you guy been playing?
If it from something else i would suggest To Zanarkand.

That song is actually pretty easy too...but it is from X, well whatever he wants.~

@blackconan: Most of us have been playing for a while, it's a high school orchestra so we don't have any beginners or anything. I've been playing for coming up on eight years, we've got kids who've been playing since they were three.

@InfinityEX: The song is relatively easy, I've got a solo arrangement of it, but I love the depth in the FF7 music, and the director listened to the soundtrack and fell in love with it. He writes like Uematsu-san does, it shows in all of his music.

Sorry about the two posts in a row, but I just got the orchestra director to upload practice midis for the group onto his school district webpage... which means I can then give those files to you as a judge on our playing level. (Disregard the middle school page!)

The songs he's arranged are Bells of the Ukraine (arrangement of Ukrainian Bell Carol or Carol of the Bells or what you want to call it), Prophecy (arrangement of O Come, O Come Emmanuel), and Three Joyful Moods (arrangement of Joy to the World, it's missing a movement he wrote himself and it's a full orchestra mp3). He's also arranged Bohemian Rhapsody, and has written two rock montages (Rock On! and Rock On! Encore, hopefully we'll play them back to back or something).

The link is here: http://www.bensalemsd.org/1451206514...te/default.asp

Use the left-hand navigation to get to the midis.

This is just an example of our playing level, please don't steal the music! ^_^

Link doesn't work ._."....

Just tell me a song, and I'll do it. gogogo =]
Don't be vague. Just tell me 1 simple song, and I'll get on with it.

Finished....now I just gotta do the slurs and bow techniques.
This is my very own arranged version, so it's a bit weird...

It says quartet, but you know where it's getting at.
MIDI for now:

*edit*

This MIDI was made right off the bat without volume for any instruments so it's quite messy xD lolz

If it sounds OK, then I'll finish it off, if not I'll continue making it sound properly or start fresh and make a complete transcription.

@InfinityEX: I think it sounds pretty awesome, the director's gonna be so excited to hear it ^_^

I already did Cloud Smiles, though it's more than just strings, since I replicated the actual piece. If you're interested, you can find it here. Also, if you want an only strings version, you can base it off mine! :)
