Watched it all, but the best one would be Spirited Away, which I watched in theaters. Magical experience xD

I watched all of them, but Naka of the Valley of the Wind... Which I read in a manga series, so I know the gist of what happened. There were like 5 or 6 volumes to it. I loved them all. My favorite is a tie between Princess Manonoke and Howl's moving castle. Spirited away is my next choice after those two... Though I'd have to say my least favorite was My Neighbor Totoro because nothing really happened in it, I liked it, but It wasn't my favorite.

I'm a huge fan of Hayao Miyazaki...(if only we could be best friends...-Sigh-) but anyways..oh yeah?! I would have to say I adore The Cat Returns, Princess Mononoke, and Howl's Moving Castle. Every time I watch them it makes my heart want to explode...(in a good way.) @_@

Princess Mononoke is definitely my favorite, too. It's what made me take drawing seriously.
"This is amazing. I bet I could do this!" As it turns out, drawing is a trillion times harder than it looks, but I'll still always be thankful to Miyazaki for forcing me into starting it. :)

Wow. Amazing. The movies are absolutely brilliant. Spirited Away would have to be me favourite moving. Well, along side with The Chronicles of Narnia movies. The animation is magical as well.

I like the music in Kiki's Delivery Service... Wonder why nobody mentioned that one.
My favorite's gotta be Howl's Moving Castle. I like the "old modern west" and fantasy magic kind of feel to it. Spirited Away draws close second, wonderful creation with a great mind of imagination. Although I can't draw too much of a liking to Mononoke, it's a little too.. in a word, serious and traditional for my taste.

EDIT: Oh, I also love the music in Lapula: Castle in the Sky.

I would have to say I adore The Cat Returns

but i guess THE CAT RETURNS, i think that is my favorite so far..
Just for the record, Miyazaki didn't direct The Cat Returns. That one was directed by Hiroyuki Morita. Just credit where it's due, since The Cat Returns is also one of my favorite movies, and I hope Morita becomes well known if he keeps it up, because he'll deserve it. =)

I love all of Miyazaki's movies. I'd have to say Howl's Moving Castle is my favorite. Spirited Away and Laputa: Castle in the Sky are close second. And the music in all of them is amazing! Joe Hisaishi is one of my favorite composers.

Well except when she writes her story but....I really like Mononke. But I know what you mean...It was a little gory (I should say) but still the meaning of the movie over powered that kind of stuff.

Yes!!!!! Tons of credit to JOE HISAISHI!!!!

I LOVED Spirited Away. I've watched it... around 15 times without getting tired of it.

Laputa: Castle in the Sky was great. Howl's Moving Castle was fun. I really loved Kiki's Delivery Service. Made me want to find a broom and try to fly on it! :) Nausicaa was action-y and so was Princess Mononoke! Ahh I love all of the Miyazaki movies!

My brother loves My Neighbor Totoro. He had a phase about it and used to watch it everyday when he came home from school. (He's 4!)

~~Has anyone seen Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea?

Of course Totoro is boring if you've forgotten what it's like to be a child. Otherwise it's really fun!

I think I liked Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke equally. I also quite liked Howl's Moving Castle, even though lots of people seem to think it's not as good as his previous two films. I think the bit at the beginning when Sophie meets Howl and they run through the town together is *magical*, lol.

I'm pretty sure that if I were a child, I'd have found it boring too. There's just nothing interesting going on. I actually find this for most ghibli films I've seen. Nothing really happens, you just watch a bunch of characters for a while but that's it. There's often no action, no humour, and I generally don't find the characters very likeable, either. They often seem to lack either depth or personality. They're just really boring people to watch.

Wow....This is very unintelligent. I actually disagree with you about 199%. I found them all entertaining and very much humorous. The characters were incredibly like able. Miyazaki adds lots of personality to all of his characters and movies. There highly entertaining. Over all, Ghibli films are very, very, very cool...So...I'm not going to tell you that you should of never put your opinion on here because obviously, I asked for opinions. But you should probably read the other 39 comments on here that were supporting the movies...x_x

How is an opinion unintelligent? Avoid brining obsession into arguments like these :D

How I see it:

Miyazaki films are developed with unique and strong backstories, but he attempts to simplify those stories so both a child and adult can appreciate it. Ultimately by doing this, the development of a plot is slow, and the character relations are not complex. This deters people that like thick mature stories with vague, but strong, character ties.

Quite frankly I agree with the fact that Miyazaki films are boring and slow, but I've seen enough anime to appreciate what his stories produce. I take his films to be exemplary for family watching and defines anime not as a hobbyist, but as a normal taste. Yet at the same time, I feel that there are several other stories that are less known which are far superior to Miyazaki films.

Magical, that's the right word. Miyazaki's films are all about expressing magical and fascinating worlds that evoke our (lost) innocence and purity. I'm sure the people who really enjoy them can feel it in their hearts.

I should point out that Asians tend to have a more intimate connection to his films. One reason is the West's mentality of always seeking for a conclusion, a result, reducing otherwise fantastic works of art into irrelevant analysis and judgment. Another reason is typically, Asians are exposed to a wider range of works from a younger age. Because of this, there's less of a tendency than the West to be desensitized by the masses of low quality shows in today's anime world.

I'm not saying all Ghibli films are bad or anything, but they lack something for me. Like Zero says, maybe I'm looking for a conclusion or something. I liked Princess Mononoke and spirited Away, both films with a conclusion. Totoro on the other hand, serves no real plot I think, and has no real conclusion. Same with Gedo Senki, that plot is just too random, or they don't take enough time to explain why certain things happen. That ruined it. This might be a fault on the director's side, though.

But like I said, I generally don't like the voice acting for the main characters in ghibli films (usually children) because it sounds really... boring. Like they're reading from a piece of paper. The supporting characters usually do have good voice acting, so why not the main character?

I've seen most of his films. I'd say my favorite Spirited Away, followed by Howl's Moving Castle, and then My Neighbor Totoro... so far any way. But my all time favorite Ghibli film will always be The Cat Returns. I will never get tired of watching that movie...well I guess that would also go with any Ghibli Movie too :\ lol.

Oh well, I misunderstood. Thank you for explaining it. I actually have to agree with you about the children voice acting. Bit then again we can't blame it miyazaki because he's not in charge of casting the voice actors, but oh well.

:D I've seen Spirited Away, Nausica Valley of The Wind, Princess Mononoke, Howl's Moving Castle, and Castle in the Sky. I'm aiming to watch all of them in Japanese with English subtitiles but...so far no good. The only ones I've watched in Japanese with subs are...Princess Mononoke(which I keep having to remind myself it's Princess Mononoke not Mononoke Hime...), Howl's Moving Castle, and Castle in the Sky...But for Howl's Moving Castle and Castle in the Sky not all of the words were heard...or recorded...or...@.@.
