There's certain things that I like about one over the other.
With acoustic, I love songs where you can close your eyes and lose yourself in. Calming, but heartfelt.
With electric, I love the sound of complicated music (if that makes any sense) and just all out rocking out.
Mostly it depends on my mood at the time, as to which one I'd rather listen to. ^_^

Favourite - cello without a doubt. Besides being my main instrument, it is also the closest sounding instrument to the human voice.
Least favourite - violin when played by a beginner! The sound is ugh!

P.S. Scanner - The one that's a step down from the violin - that's the viola. Well known for viola jokes.

Well I find it is difficult for a beginner to make it sound wonderful since it is a bit hard to play. But the violin is amazingly beautiful.

It's difficult to choose, but piano would definitely be up there. Pan flutes sound really nice, too. And bassoons.

I'd say I'd have to pick ever instrument I play.....but for the sake of morality I'd have to say the Celtic Level Harp, Alto Flute and Alto Clarinet (especially when it hits the high notes, they can sound really beautiful when played nicely).

Favorite instrument as in... to play with? Or to listen to?
To play to real: piano, because it's just too familiar to part with.
To play for fun: baritone saxophone, because I can honk away as loud as I could on it.
To listen to: the strings (cello, viola, violin) indecisive with one if more beautiful.

There are so many instruments that I play/love it's so hard to decide. D=

I started playing the piano when I was young, about 9 years now and the violin for 7 years. I'd have to say piano is much more fun for me because I play it whenever I have time or really stressed out. =)

I think every instrument has its own, beautiful, unique sound that different people like in different ways because it triggers those pleasure senses differently. A variety of people like a variety of sounds, making the different instruments and their musicians. When it all comes together, something new and different in a varying sort of way is created, and that sound, when done in tune with one another, would have to be my ultimate favorite.
Individually, though, I'd have to say that my favorites are all the instruments I play: The clarinet (warming, peaceful sound), the saxophone (a jazzy instrument made unlike any other), and the piano (can be played in any style, and never fails to bring the missing piece back to a song). Also, a piano and cello together make a beautiful sound. The harp also is among my favorites, and it makes me sad that harp players are becoming more and more rare.

The erhu is BEAUTIFUL. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtPm5GiJ_iM <- Joe Hisaishi concert, with himself on the piano, one of the 12 girls band on the erhu (love her sound!), a violinist, and a guzheng player (AKA zither, which is another beautiful instrument).

Ehh piano. Not just because i know how to play piano, but also because there's different keys and you can play it soft and loud full of emotion like anger or sadness.

Bassoon. It is the instrument that has made me enjoy performing and has made me a much better musician altogether. Plus it's got a great sound. I especially love the lower notes.
