What the heck is this and how's it work?..

Just asking because there's a bunch of random requests I've got

Essentially, it's nothing. I mean, you can see a bit more about the person and you can also view their picture albums, but effectively there's no difference between being a normal member or a friended member.

So the post your picture thread is useless?

You can set the album to private. About 90 pics are allowed and they get sized to 600 by 600 if too big. Ideal for storing all of your old sets I suppose.

I still say it's useless. There's a place to post your picture in your profile anyway.

hang on.. if there is enough space for that crap, can't we please extend the size limit of avatars to 30kb or something =_=

The size limit on avatars was placed to prevent gaudy avatars from coming into existence, not to limit the quality. In which such case, 19.5kb is still rather impressive for a 100x100px picture (I'll spare you the math as to why this is).

f00l, the point is that we need to use unanimated .gifs since .jpg will never fit under 20kb unless its piss shit quality and .bmp and .png are a whole order of magnitude off.

Animated .gifs, those are lame. but at least we should not have to sacrfice image quality down to 1992 level on 100x100 avatars?

50kb would be overkill. 35kb would fit the same avatars that i used as jpg format on quality 12.(PS highest)

but as for 20, it won't even fit like.. 7

This has been discussed enough. The filesize on avatars will not change for the aforementioned reasons. Discussing on why this should be changed will not do anything.

*points to my avatar which is <7kB*
*points to M's avatar which is <3kB*

hmm, both look great! :P

It can be done. Use Photoshop's Save For Web. We won't be raising the limits since they are there for a reason.

edit: oops, thread was closed. *bonk*
