Hey guys and gals, I recently got a Super Nintendo. It's in good condition, and it came with Super Mario World and two controllers. I got a few game cartridges for it as well, over here.

Mortal Kombat 1, 2, and 3
Secret of Mana 1 in English (Seiken Densetsu 2, I know, the numbers are different)
Seiken Densetsu 3 in Japanese
Chrono Trigger in Japanese
Super Metroid
Legend of Zelda

Now what other classics am I missing? I'm currently looking for the Megaman Super Nintendo Series, but I'm drawing a blank at what classics I need to make my collection complete.

I googled around, but is there anything missing, or anything you'd modify?

I would like help with specific titles instead of "series".

Tetris (any version specifically?)
Final Fantasy series (what titles do I need?)
Lufia 1, 2, and the Fortress of Doom
Earthbound
Street Fighter 1 and 2
Breath of Fire 1 and 2
Castlevania series (there's a lot... What are the ones that are mandatory?)
Kirby Super Star
Secret of Evermore
F-Zero
Illusion of Gaia
Star Fox 1 and 2
Another World
Megaman (mandatory titles would be nice here too...)

Well thanks everyone and feel free to pitch in any ideas and even places in Canada where these can be bought.

The original Harvest Moon for SNES is a lot of fun =) I put so many hours into that game. It seems to be a lot more simple than all of the new ones (I haven't played them though), but it's really addictive!

My boyfriend swears by Kirby Super Star and still plays it every now and then.

Of course with Final Fantasy, the "required" one would be FFVI (III in the states), and I have a lot of fond memories of watching my brother play FFIV (II in the states).

Lufia 2 isn't that great. 1's ok tho.
Megaman X is definitely classic. X2 and X3 are a little off taste but still okay.
Final Fantasy VI. Definitely. Its the only reason why a SNES still sits in my closet.

Why you don't have Tactics Ogre in that list a cause for puzzle especially if you're looking for classics. Even if you hate SRPG its still worth playing. Extremely grand plot and setting that's enough to match the pointlessly complicated RPG's these days, revolutionary system concepts without which PS2 classics like disgaea wouldn't have been born. Sad how there was never a sequel. Damn square split Quest in two stealing talent to make FF tactics.
Mario Kart :lol2: it even had drifting techniques!
Bahamut Lagoon is a rather late title made by Square in the last days of SNES that got little attention, but is still damn awesome.
Donkey kong country - at least the first one had good sense of humour.
Ys V Expert - Lost city of Kefin. Excellent ARPG. but then, all the Ys series are.
Super Mario RPG - surprisingly fun to play, at least when I was like 12.
Dragon Quest V, VI - At least a classic by Japanese standards
Brainlord a.k.a. brainfuck. video game players back in those days were so...... obtuse. Contrary to the name it doens't require much brain use, its not even a puzzle game.

Btw with Castlevania, the classic of the series is actually the one for PS, Nocturne in the moonlight. That one's almost worth buying a PSone for.

Final Fantasy VI. I am averse to RPG timesinks, but FF6 is the exception to that rule. :) Highly recommended.

Hey, Super Castlevania IV was great! Total whip control ftw.
Circle of the Moon holds a special place in my heart too, actually.
Symphony of the Night (I'm an American, damnit) was good, but I don't see why everyone flipped out about it, other than the fact that it marks the point where Castlevania stopped being Castlevania, and started being Metroid + Dracula. Not that that's a bad thing, of course. I love all the post SotN vanias, after all. =D

Still, I'd argue that SCIV is the classic Castlevania. The games after SotN should count as their own series, I think.. Half the games after SotN don't even have whips in them! O:

Final Fantasy 5 and 6 - good RPG's, not as great as Chrono trigger but 6 is certainly better than 7 and 8
Lufia 1 and 2 - good RPG's, maybe not the best, but to me, definately the most nostalgic
Super Mario RPG - nice RPG, quite light hearted
Tales of Phantasia - even has voices :P Great RPG but kinda frustrating amount of random encounters. Pretty original battle system though

Just Tetris is great.

Also, dr. Mario is one timeless classic, Earthbound/Mother2 is just one game, they never released Earthbound 2/Mother3 in the US, only in Japan, same goes for Mother1.
You are really lucky to have Chrono Trigger, I had it a few years ago, but it's gone now, so I just had to buy the DS remake recently :D

I think you have most classics already, and those mentioned before me are great, too. Especially FF6, I'd recommend FF4, too.

I wish I had the original Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana. I am envious of you...

Anyways, if you can manage it I recommend Pocky & Rocky and Gradius III. Both games are great for casual players and the other kind of players. For Street Fighter, I recommend SFII Turbo. It's a lot better and unless you want to have a bigger variety of characters to choose from, it's probably the best as well. For Final Fantasy, the others already mentioned it, but yeah, you're going to want to get both 4 and 6.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time. Don't lie to yourself. It's bad ass!

It's just one of those corny "walk to the right until a group of baddies shows up, beat them, repeat previous 2 steps" game. Like Double Dragon. Gets pretty boring after... 2 minutes.

Even so, hours of my youth have been dedicated to playing that game with other friends. It was totally different when you are younger. XD

I say go for the entire Donkey Kong trilogy, not just the first one. Watch Dixie blow her bubbles and suck her toes, pursue the banana birds to the last one, and enjoy the water music.

And for the sake of tradition, Super Mario World, all the way to the squeaky finale.

The first DKC game will always be the best though. Also, make sure to get starwing/ star fox if it hasn't been mentioned before, and of course Super Mario Kart.

Dirty, filthy lies. TMNT was an epic brawler. DON'T YOU SLANDER ITS LEGENDARY NAME! Seriously, though. I thought it was good, mindless fun with a few friends.

Chrono Trigger,Secret of Man, Illusion of Gaia, FF6, Soul Blazer and Zelda Link to the Past are games I highly recommend.
Finally, someone with good taste! Soul blazer was amazing! Hurrah for old Enix games o/
Check out Terranigma, too. Sequel to SB, prequel to IoG.

Also, I'm playing Mother3 right now. It's f***ing great. Even though it's a GBA game...
