Hello,
for a while now, and I've always been stumped at this.
How do you make an eloquent accompaniment from chords?
For a long while, i added notes within the key and such but it seems sloppy and not very professional at all.
How do you guys make accompaniment with beauty with just chords.

Take for example:

the common I IV V VI
chords G C D C

help is greatly appreciated.

That would be great but it doesnt work for the contemporary pieces im trying to accompany or make an arrangement for.

The dilema is that in two days i need to help my friend make an arrangement for her contemporary church songs.
The setting will be her playing the melody and accompaniment, leading little kids for worship. *however, i am always interested in learning also so anything not related to this contemporary piece is equally welcome

Now, I have not have the formal training in advanced theory and thus am not very accomplished at making acceptable (seriously haha) piano arrangements.
Just how to create a non repetitive melody with the chords.
Any ideas or help is appreciated.
(Substituting chords, different arrangement patters, changing the chord [9th 5b..], and just ANY way to spice it up)

The song im working on currently is called "God of Wonders"

again, Thanks for any help in advance :)

I think you will have to experiment and use your creativity for see what you can find for fit the melody. I know this is not really helping but I think is the best you can do. Otherwise explore piano pieces from different music periods and styles, look how the composers worked the accompaniments.
