My latest project for A Level photography is called 'Two's Company'. There's no restrictions on the pictures i take, as long as they contain two people. These are my personal favourites so far. Any comments or feedback much appreciated [:

I like number 3 to best, but all the other people in the others, even if the subjects are clear, seem to ruin the theme.

The abuse of Black and White is killing me.

Same here. I'm no photography expert (painters and camera-devils are mortal enemies, after all), but it seems to me that most of these don't gain anything from having their color taken away from them, and might even be better in color.

I do still like them, though. The second to the last one is adorable. =D
The last one has a very uncomfortable composition, in my opinion.
I like the third from the last one.

The rest...I dunno. If you didn't tell me what the theme was ahead of time, I never would have guessed. Really, most of them just look like random family trip photos. (Albeit, well taken photos). The reason I like the second to last one the most is simply because that's the only one that really screams "aw, a couple!" to me. Your third picture is good, but it doesn't give me the warm fuzzies - it gives me kind of a "wear hanes!" vibe, like I'd see it in a magazine or something. That's not a bad thing, obviously, but looking at it doesn't make me happy.

[/serious critiques]

Anyway, they're mostly well done; it's just that most of them don't say "two is company" to me, and I don't understand why they're all black and white. The third one in particular seems like it would look a ton better in color.

Because i work in black and white film.

And im not trying to portray ideas of 'couples'. I just wanted unique photos of two people.

Thanks for the comments anyway though.

You could do a sub section of the full phrase "Three is a crowd."
Just for the brains marks. Since all the photographers at my uni are brown nosed or button pushers D=

Any specific reason? Or are you just trying to master one sort of film at a time? That'd make sense, I guess.

That was my point, though. For half of the photos, it seems to me that the people in them are negligible; eg, they could be taken out of the photo, and I'd still get the same vibe from said photo. The main exceptions being second-from-last and number three, of course. They're still nice photos; I'm just not sure how well they fit the theme you were assigned.

Did you take the pictures in B&W or convert them? Also did you manipulate the images or left them as you took them?

I think the last picture is more concentrate on the object than the couple of kids. If you exposed more of their bodies probably could have worked better as they being the important subject of the picture. I would have liked a bit of close-up in some of your other pictures, to make stand out the couples better and not to be part of a big background.

They were taken on a film SLR in black and white film. There was no changing of colours as there was no colour in the first place. And, I work in black white as I have to develop everything. To develop a colour film takes hours and hours of working with multitudes of usually dangerous chemicals that all need to be at very specific temperatures. Needless to say for my school, they lack the money, and on a timescale it would just be highly impractical. There's nothing to say i cant use a colour film and have it developed at a chemist or something, but it costs an arm and a leg and it's so much more pleasing to watch the photos you took turn out brilliantly after 20 attempts than to recieve a pack of neat, all correctly exposed pictures, all cut to size in the post.
