I've been using composing software a while now. NoteWorthy and Guitar Pro mostly.
Recently, I've tried some audio edition programs (Audacity) don't know why and then a friend borrowed me a cable and I could record a song in .wav format.
Now I got a USB-MIDI interface cable and I connected my Casio CTK-631 keyboard with my computer... nothing happens.

I want something to happen. Thanks in advance.

MIDI cables just transfer DATA, no sounds. If you want to record the sounds of your keyboard, ask your friend what is the cable he used.

Thanks again, Nyu (http://forums.ichigos.com/showthread.php?t=13286)
But I got Reason 4 and it's recommended to use it with a MIDI Keyboard.
I connected my Casio keyboard that has 2 MIDI jacks (or whatever they are) with my computer and I want to know how does an audio editing program works with a Casio Keyboard, because nothing happens when I select the keyboard on Keyboards and Control Surfaces on the Preferences menu.

And I want something to happen.

I have never used Reason, so, I can't help you much there. Reason is a sequencer, so, there should be an option to get it work. Or maybe you connected the MIDI IN and OUT incorrectly? Or maybe you are having an empty channel?

You can ask this in their forum where you can get a better help: http://www.propellerheads.se/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=6

The thing is I can't make any program to work.
I've even gone to Control Panel, select "USB audio device" (which is the name it self-installed by) to play midi archives, select a midi archive to play and it freezes. I have to disconnect the interface from the USB port.

Hmm, I got confused here. To play midi archives and they to sound in your Casio keyboard?

There is no need to go to control panel, those things you can set them in the software you are using. But I have no experience with Reason. I hope someone else can help you with the problem. Ask in their forum, is your best bet. :>

Edit:

I guess you speak Spanish, so I found this that maybe will help you:

tenes que poner en donde agregas un teclado o controlador midi, viste?? en " Edit Preferences... Control Surfaces and Keyboards "

I don't have any experience working with Reason either, though I've come across my share if MIDI problems. The most common problem is simply that you've forgotten to adjust the "MIDI options" or "Sound Options" or however your sequencer labels it ^^; If that doesn't do it, I'd suggest following Nyu and Marty's advice!

Essentially, it works like this :P

MIDI sends commands -> program that generate sound

Simple as that :D However, in terms of Reason... Its been a while. Normally you'd have to create some kind of output for the MIDI commands to actually go through. I'm actually not that sure about Reason and the *output* of MIDI signals, just input... Hrm, I guess I knew less then I thought XD

Personally I've been using Sonar (LE came with my Roland keyboard) and it works pretty well if you need to just output MIDI signal. Otherwise, get a sequencing program like Anvil Studio (http://www.anvilstudio.com/) and you should be able to hear it through that in some shape or form.
