Hmm... did you buy the Sibelius 5 "Upgrade" --or-- Sibelius 5?

I have and work with Sibelius 3 (bought the 4 & 5 upgrades tho just in case). If you bought the Sib5 upgrade, then it probably assumes you already have Kontakt Player already installed and therefore wouldn't install it again. I'm not 100% on that though. The full Sibelius 5 package SHOULD have it, if I'm not mistaken they even upgraded the Kontakt Player in the newer versions of Sibelius with more sounds (or better sounds). You might want to check your manual or other documents (like a receipt) and see if you accidentally bought the upgrade only version.

As for the MIDI. From my experience you can save your work in Sibelius as a MIDI by "SAVE AS" and select the MID or MIDI extension in the drop menu. However that option either doesn't work or screws the hell up when your music is composed with the instruments set to "use kontakt player for playback". The preset instrument lists are set to "use General MIDI soundset" by Default.... I messed around with mine so it's now Kontakt. If you individually select instruments (use the "Blank Sheet" and just add instruments function) The instruments could either be Kontakt or General MIDI... you have to double check that in the Select Instrument window (should be a small dropdown menu).

Kontakt isn't necessary if you only want to work with midi sounds. I'm not sure how your sibelius is configured, but under the file->export tab, go to midi and not audio. Audio requires that you use samples, and not midi sounds. Other than that, do what BZ said, which is to check that your sounds are configured to use midi sounds and not kontakt player (should be default if you don't have kontakt installed). If that didn't help, then I think you may have to be a bit more specific about your problems.

Slayer, ...wait...what?! Did you or did you not buy the full Sibelius 5 program? Did you buy the "upgrade" version and not the full? Or did you just find a torrent or download for "Sibelius 5" and got it from the web without paying? If it's either the upgrade version (and you did not have any full install of Sibelius prior to that) or the illegal internet download -- that right there may be your problem.

You're going to have to be more specific with your information if you'd like one of us to help you.

sam123dude ... Ummm sounds like an internet problem on your end. I'm not sure about how to go about solving that if it isn't an internet service problem. Sorry.

Well slayer, your problem is that you illegally downloaded it with a torrent. Alot of times when you download programs with a torrent, there are problems, as you can see. Just buy the full version. :\ In this economy, there is no telling when companies will start to crack down on piracy.

well the truth of the matter is that i allready have finally (reason for not buying sibelius) and i wanted to use sibelius cause it seemed more intuitive... and easier to use (and it is) plus finally eats my resources like... a tiger eating a gazelle. as for the midi thing Gotank's advice worked (thanks a lot for that) :D

Okay there are like 2 or 3 of these threads made by this guy, can we please get rid of the extra ones?!

Also, you should actually BUY sibelius instead of download it. It's frakking worth it. No joke.

Also, considering that you already have "finally" (it's fina[ile[/i], btw), Sibelius has a cheap trade off for you.
